    Greetings from Ottawa

Hi Serge, Yes the Swedish languish has a few “strange” letters which don’t display well here! ;D  I am sure you can contribute to the discussions here with experiences from you work. Nice to have you here! ;)

    defective project

Hi Logan, I agree, and you are not the only one here to be wondering about this problem. I get mails asking about projects quite often and many are just minor problems but some are worse and needs extensive changes to work as supposed to. I hope we can change this, I don’t know exactly how but...

    0-30 Vdc Stabilized Power Supply

Hi all, Unfortunately some projects in E-Labs collection are not quite up to standards! The power supply discussed here is one of them which no one could have missed to discover. I have received mail and messages about a few others too but the PSU project has been very popular and thus much...

    Thermal Protection for Battery Pack

Hi rfranzk, I might have misunderstood you, this is PPTC as you mentioned. These are not supposed to regulate or interrupt the charging process but protect the battery pack from burning up in case of a short circuit or overload condition. This might be what you are looking for...

Too much power for the ULQ2003A

Hi Russ, You have to "boost" the outputs of the array with power transistors for this level of current! The ruined board is probably not made for this current and you better build the “boost” circuit on a PCB.

    best voltage and current regulator

Hi steev, This is definitely a switch regulator application. I think you should go for the MAX 724 / 726 that is simple and reliable. With only a few external parts, high efficiency and low quiescent current it’s a good choice.

    i need power supply circuit

Hi prateek, You are correct about the 5 Volts part but the -15V and +15V is not that common, especially not in one and the same unit and at this high current. If -12V and +12V would work it is not that hard to find.

    vehicle rpm based switch- help

Hi piloteex, Must be a well balanced six or perhaps short stroked at that rev range! Anyway, it would help to know the relationship between the ECU output signal and the rpm. You say it’s digital but nothing about  the characteristics of it.

2 transmitters 1 antenna is it possible?!

I don’t have the “formula” for my statement, just a gut feeling!  8)

    hacking a solid state relay

The simple way is to get a square rod of brass, cut it to suitable bits, drill and thread! This piece of brass can be soldered to a PCBs copper surface thus be fixed inside the moulding, done! 8)

    Repairing circuit board

Hi ET, 1. I would puzzle all the crumbs back together with superglue. 2. Scrape off the varnish on the copper stripes. 3. Solder small bridges over the broken copper stripes. 4. Carefully inspect the job before testing it! Keep my fingers crossed  ;)

    Thermal Protection for Battery Pack

Hi rfranzk, I think you are referring to a PolySwitch like these: http://www.elfa.se/pdf/60/06027007.pdf I buy mine at ELFA http://www.elfa.se/en/ They look like this:

    vehicle rpm based switch- help

Hi, Ok, that makes some sense. Do you think a relay will be fast enough, I mean when you “step on it” there is not much time before you exceed 3000rpm and the pressure rises rapidly? Perhaps this circuit can be canceled by the kick down maneuver to allow the dump valve to operate normally under...

    i need power supply circuit

Hi astra, It’s quite a lot of power (160W), do you plan to build it or buy one? There are some SMPS with triple output voltage but 15Volts are not the standard here. If you need light weight and a small unit it must be primary switched. If size and weight are no big issues you can perhaps use a...

2 transmitters 1 antenna is it possible?!

No, I don’t think that’s possible at least not for simultaneous transmitting. The signals will interfere with each other and maybe destroy the output stage.

    hacking a solid state relay

Hi Daniel, Maybe you could make a regulating circuit instead of the off / on (relay) switching to get a more even temperature. This will probably save some energy too and generate fewer disturbances for other appliances too.

Hi ET, ;) Welcome to our forum. It’s hard to say without having seen the damage on the pcb, can you post a picture, preferable of both sides?
