    Hi Dazza, Oh, dear God it’s a 386… what are you going to use it for? Anchor some fishing gear?  ;D  OK, that wasn’t very nice but I was very surprised!! I thourth you where kidding when you wrote Pentium 386!! I don’t know if the CD-Rom was invented back then but if you try to update the bios...

    Televisions and Voltage Transformers

    Hi Audioguru, OK so no mains sync then! Thanks for the explanation. Black and white sets? You are kidding, which planet are you living on? I remember my dad bringing home a colour set for the Olympics in Mexico in 1968 and I haven’t seen any B&W since!  ;D

    h-bridge dc motor control circuit Reworked

    Hi heathtech, I think maybe we have narrowed down the problem to interference from the motor. One way is to use a separate power supply for the motor circuit at least temporarily to find out for sure that this is the problem. To test this without any big changes is to put some caps on the...

    h-bridge dc motor control circuit Reworked

    Hi heathtech, Wellcome to our forum. I would consider the possibility of either interference from light (if the encoder is IR or LED) or maybe the speed is in the higher range of the encoders capability. This is just me guessing, but here is where I would start looking. If you post the circuit...

    Televisions and Voltage Transformers

    Hi Guys. Is there any chance the picture update frequency is linked to the net here? Here in Europe we have 50Hz and on some “more expensive” tv-sets it is doubled to 100Hz for a flicker free picture. If I remember correctly the pic-update in the US is 60Hz….. could this perhaps be a problem?

    I'M Lost!

    Hi Bjorn, I agree W2k has worked rock steady in my computers and I don’t have any complaints what so ever. To be honest XPPro is “exactly” the same just a lot of bells and whistles on top! The reason for XPP in my new computer is that it was included and preinstalled. From what I know about...

    Speed-limit Alert PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

    Hi Pieter, Yes I could see he was teasing you but my point was the problem of using the engine rpm for this purpose. The two links you provided are interesting and useful but I think maybe these types of sensors are too sensitive to work under your car. They will be exposed to all kinds of dirt...

    12vdc->9vdc

    Hi Scott, There are no downsides that I can think of and building a power supply using the LM 317 is a good start to learn more about electronics. Good luck, and let us know how it all works out or if it doesn’t.  ;D

    Speed-limit Alert PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

    Hi Pieter, It’s easy, you need a sensor for one of the drive shafts (if a front wheel drive) or the driveshaft if rear wheels drive! This way you are measuring the speed and not the RPM which is not related to the speed since you have more than one gear. 8)

    I'M Lost!

    Hi Bjorn, I didn’t get any good results with these”bugfixers” and I don’t use the same computer for this place (Electronics-lab) any more. Firefox worked well but it was very slow compared to IE. I got a new computer almost two months ago and it runs XPP and I don’t look back! There was nothing...
