Why do relays struggle to switch high voltage low current loads?

Search for relay wetting current, the lowest current before the contact becomes unstable.

Welding Problem: SPOT WELDERS (AMPS, WATTS, VOLTS)

Sounds like you are touting the use of the required E-Stop PB circuit. This is mandatory in just about all industrial areas in N.A and Europe . In NA it is covered in NFPA79 and NFPA70.

Advice on linear actuators ? Length of strong strokes per second ?

Rather a vague question. What are you trying to achieve? There are quite a few types and many sizes.

Need to build a simple PWM generator

As mentioned the way to supply the PWM exactly what you need, but it requires knowledge of picmicro's! A small 8 pin can be programmed to supply the Exact frequency. No caps or resistors. Even a PGM to do the calc, https://www.micro-examples.com//public/microex-navig/doc/097-pwm-calculator.html

Need to build a simple PWM generator

I put together the one I linked to, as I was in need of a bench version with variable frequency as well as pulse width to test motor driver boards. With this one, the width control does not affect the frequency.

Need to build a simple PWM generator

As well as the raft of 555 based PWM controllers out there, there is a variable PWM generator by RMCybernetics.com who also offer a schematic. https://www.rmcybernetics.com/science/diy-devices/diy-pwm-signal-generator

New to encoders and need assistance...

If the OP is interested in playing around or experimenting to get accustomed to a simple quadrature encoder, there is the slotted disk and opto reader on Ebay for under $5.00. Ebay 112453707979 Depending on current level of expertise.

    Treadmill stuck on one speed

Often it is a sensor adjacent to one of the belt pulleys, a magnetic sensor with two wires attached.

New to encoders and need assistance...

I don't think anyone implied that you did as such? It was just a general statement I made Especially in light of this statement. "I am in the beginning phases of designing an automated backlash test bench at work which will require the use of an encoder. My issue is this will be the first time...

Why are these triacs connected to the neutral instead of the line?

Both conductors, live and neutral carry the same current. Electrically speaking, there is no difference in which line the control is in. If this is a two conductor fed machine, i.e. no GND conductor and is double insulated appliance, it really makes no difference. Hint AC is Alternating Current...

New to encoders and need assistance...

There is absolutely no potential difference in accuracy between quadrature, co-tangent, and absolute encoders. The benefit of the latter is that at power up, the position is retained, one common usage is Robotics, where it is desirable not to perform a zero routine first. Cliff.T, If you are...

    Arduino Resets -- Why?

I tend to reverse-engineer these modules just to see exactly what the board consists of. On an unrelated tip, it also pays to remove the small pip in the centre of the relay top. It is a sealing pip to allow flux removal after manuf. but it also can causes contact degradation due to ionization...

New to encoders and need assistance...

Generally the most common encoder, is the differential Quadrature encoder variety. The have two pulses to indicate rate rotation and direction. The two pulses are 90 deg. apart, hence Quadrature encoder. Many also a one-per-rev pulse, AKA marker pulse for the purpose of obtaining a zero...

    Treadmill stuck on one speed

Check to see if the belt sensor is in place, often the proximity type that senses a magnet on the belt works away in its clamp. That is if it is not the version with sensor on the end of the motor. M.

what relays are good enough for 15amp and 5v activate to build my own breaker box style

The word was 'PIP' the small plastic knob on the bottom left of the relay. The advice was to remove it.

what relays are good enough for 15amp and 5v activate to build my own breaker box style

Appears to be a bit of a partially chunky SSR ?:) Incidentally, if using the type of relays used in the link, it usually pays to remove the sealing 'Pip', shown on this one in the bottom LH side of the relay. It is used usually for sealing the relay during flux wash down. If left sealed, for...
