    As per Davenn, the single/double side refers to the presence of foil/tracks, on a "single" side or a "Double" side. The jumpers are considered just another device, as a 0.0 ohm resistor etc would be. M.

If permanent or final board version, the tinned variety is preferred, but for general/varying lengths of jumper wires using bread-board or Strip (Vero) board, I use a piece of single strand telephone cable, (2 to 4 pair), leave the insulation on for the longer versions.     What are you using for a motor drive/power section? Usually the drive semi's have a power common to the motor supply. I can see if I have a diag somewhere. Also look up ST APP note AN1625. shows how the common is related to the motor M.

    Appears to be a typical SCR/Triac phase angle controller, have you tested the large white ceramic covered resistor, these tend to give out after years of use. I suspect the hot wire has nothing to do with the positioning/CNC side of things. M.

    The most efficient is the 3ph choke intended for the purpose. On the input side, the first thing in line is a 3ph rectifier and a large bank of electrolytic capacitors, so the input is pretty well damped at that point. M.

    That is correct. BTW, I prefer to spend money on the other end, IOW a 3 ph choke between the output and the motor, especially if it is an older, non-vector rated motor. M.

    You rarely need to discharge those start capacitors, if you are worried just make sure you don't contact the two connection leads if they are stake-on connectors. M.
