By how much will a 26 Ohm resistance reduce 0.28A?

The resistance of the fan = 43Ω so 43Ω in series with 26Ω = 69Ω which across 12v will = .17Ma. I leave it to you to calculate how many volt drop is across each of the 43Ω & 26Ω. Again, you need to brush up or understand Ohms law. M.

Adding "on" light to 240V thermostat

Are you sure there is high voltage AC on the thermostat? Usually low voltage, and Neon's that are made for appliance indicator have a minimum strike voltage. M.

Fan Header Question: Volts, Amps & Watts Multiplication & Multiple fans...

What you need to do is forget about the fans, study up on Ohms law and the relationship between Volts, amps, wattage first. There are some basic deficiencies in your thinking, 20 posts later all have been trying to explain it to you. M.

Fan Header Question: Volts, Amps & Watts Multiplication & Multiple fans...

Wattage is a result of Voltage and Current and as already been posted, two fans in parallel double the wattage. Across 12v they will each see no difference in performance. M.

Fan Header Question: Volts, Amps & Watts Multiplication & Multiple fans...

The common PC fan header should be able to support that current, modern PC fans are now mostly BLDC as opposed to the old brushed DC, these usually exhibit a fixed RPM range across a variation in voltage, and the current is fairly constant, as opposed to the old DC type, these have a BLDC IC...

    Newbie question about transformer inputs

As you can see from the diagram in #11, if the 277 touches ground it is connected in anti parallel, Opposing the main winding, when the L & N is connected as shown. M.

    Newbie question about transformer inputs

If you want to learn what is going on, connect the L & N leave the 277 unconnected and measure the AC from N to 277 , you should see 277vac, if not reverse the N & L1 and re-measure. M.

    Newbie question about transformer inputs

But it depends on if they are in phase with the applied 120v, the connection could well have amounted to anti-parallel! Even in phase, one will oppose the other to a lesser degree. M.

    Newbie question about transformer inputs

So if the 277 was grounded then it would depend on how the L & N were connected (in or out of phase with the 277) as to how much current flowed to ground in the 277 overwind, either way it would be excessive and if left as it were would most likely have burnt the primary out. It probabally was...
