Need to short DC motor terminals when not in use

If this is manual control via a switch, why do you need relays and diodes? M..

Obtaining maximum torque from a motor

Most motors exert the maximum torque at zero rpm, for a simple reading of this is the use a spring scale and pulley, the radius of the pulley and the display on the scale will give you the maximum torque in ft-lbs etc available at the motor continuous rated current. If this is a fixed load and...

    Treadmill Motor Board replacement

They are not generally that interchangeable, there are a few common problems depending on the make, the power devices could require replacing, they are either SCR's or Mosfet transistors. M.

    Help identifying a part

This indicated circle would be the two coils. The permanent magnets I would imagine are opposite polarity to the coils. M.

    Can anyone Identify this component?

Looks like the bus line decouplers, you could remove a good one and test it, even if it is with a Ohm meter, you should get a fairly accurate reading, not super critical for that. M.

    12V Battery on a 230V/50Hz Pump

It depends on the size of the pond! For the larger ones, a mains pump with AC motor is often used and the motor itself is sealed and filled with dielectric (transformer) oil. M.

Switch and pot replacement for drill motor

You can get them all mounted in a case for $30.00 on ebay, you would have to add the reversing switch if needed. M.

Switch and pot replacement for drill motor

You need a DPDT toggle switch with centre off, IOW 3 posn. I can describe the hook up if needed. A common item. You do not just switch line and loads, but Field WRT the armature. M.

    Understanding Inductors

Remember that the current leads the voltage in a capacitor, and voltage leads the current in a inductor. When a alternating current is applied to an inductor the positive going waveform creates a magnetic field in a certain direction or polarity, upon reversal of the negative going part of the...

Have you seen one of these and how can I make it work.

It is basically a laboratory experimental teaching aid to demonstrate the effects of different R/C values on circuits,, Usually a high quality resistor and capacitor substitution box. It provides a convenient selection of standard resistor and capacitor values available either separately or in...

Have you seen one of these and how can I make it work.

It is what is says on the bottom, it switches in various R or C and connects them either series or parallel for experimental/Lab purposes. M.

    Power for 12v water pump

As others have mentioned, you do not state what the supplys or pump is, AC? DC? There is probabally no earth conductor this is the reason for a required RCD or GFI. M..

Software to control COM or Parallel port pin output

A little OTT but the free Mach3 CNC would control P.P. outputs, the relay may be to high a current for a P.P. but you can use a 2n7000 to drive it with. You could also use a COM port for RS232 if using a outboard μp. such as PICmicro or Arduino etc. Max.

Real life dilemma: Help powering an AC device with DC

Those three coil looking symbols feed what appears to be bare copper? They each have a BEMF diode across them so appear to be DC, strange if the copper is bare?? M.

Real life dilemma: Help powering an AC device with DC

An AC inductive device relies on the inductive reactance to limit current, if fed from DC the load is purely the resistance of the coil, which is very low for a AC device. Usually it is not a good idea, even if the voltage is lowered. The AC device current is determined by the inductive...

Real life dilemma: Help powering an AC device with DC

If feeding a device with a bridge input using DC, the polarity will not matter as the DC is 'steered' by the bridge. m.

Real life dilemma: Help powering an AC device with DC

You may have to peek inside and do a little reverse engineering to see what the chime is activated with, if it is AC inductive components (coils etc) they are much lower impedance than the comparable DC. M.

    IGBT help needed

Certainly appears to be IGBT's with in-house part numbers. www.fujielectric.com/products/semiconductor/model/igbt/index.html You may want to try and contact Fuji, the alternative is to look through the app notes and attempt to pick out a suitable sub based on operating voltage and estimated max...
