    Turntable Spinning Fast in Reverse

It looks to me like it could be an electronically commutated motor, it has 6 connections entering the motor? Obviously a TT is designed normally for one direction and accurate rpm, so it is possible you may have damaged or harmed the electronics by power reversal. M.

    One Way Communication from Chip-to-Chip

It would be an advantage to know whether you have any programming experience with any kind of μproc?. If not you need to decide a language to program in, assy, C etc and then go through one of the many tutorials on line. IMO, If you just need to transfer an ON/OFF function you do should not need...

    Transformer smoked

One odd explanation is if the mist maker has a bridge on the input for AC/DC and either polarity DC. And one side of the input connected to GND. Most modern meters on Resistance range will not measure a SS device. M.

    One Way Communication from Chip-to-Chip

I am not familiar with that processor. Are you proficient at programming? I imagine you will need something to drive the LED's with, 2n7000 etc. That would normally be a trivial function to implement. M.

    One Way Communication from Chip-to-Chip

If driving a relay you will probably need conditioning of some kind, 2n7000 for e.g. etc. If you have two identical devices, output on one - input the other plus common. Insufficient info for detailed response. M.

The fountain unit would not be AC by any chance? M.

Need one bit of old circuit board

I get all my proto boards from here http://www.futurlec.com/ProtoBoards.shtml I use the strip board, half way down, if this is what you had in mind? M.

    One Way Communication from Chip-to-Chip

What data? Control relay from one ic to another is 0/1 logic, no other 'data'.?? M.

I believe it is the same as used by HP. M.

12v rail vs 5v rail computer psu

IMO, the P.C. power supply is the last thing I would use for a DC motor, a transformer and a bridge is all that is needed. M.

    Female barrel connector

Check Digikey they have them. Just measure the int/ext size. So you need the receptacle on the LT side? M.

    ESC for brusheless motor

Was it a PWM signal that you tried? There are many cheap motor testers on ebay, also circuits if you want to build your own, the beeps will indicate how and what you have connected, usually in a sheet from the Manuf. when connected to a reciever. Max..

    switch amperage for cordless drill

If using those light L.S.'s I would wire a .15μf cap across them for arc suppression. The object of the reverse connected diodes is that only two wires are required out to the switches and the motor, all in series, rather than bring a pair back for each. M.

    switch amperage for cordless drill

Did you see this thread? https://www.electronicspoint.com/threads/12v-rail-vs-5v-rail-computer-psu.274314/#post-1654070 You could set up control with a couple of relays.Presumably you need a reversing circuit? Also a trick to economize on wiring is to use a reverse biased diode across each...

12v rail vs 5v rail computer psu

..and even with PWM, unless you bring the rpm up slowly, it can still be full voltage if maximum rpm is called for initially. M.

misc idea: small (3-phase BLDC) motors with built-in drivers.

Early days of CNC, DC brushed servo's were often Getty's or Emerson, and were used by Fanuc and a knock-off by Mitsubishi, Fanuc then made their yellow cap DC brushed on license from Gettys. These were high wattage motors, capable of driving ball screws direct. Later there were also US man such...

12v rail vs 5v rail computer psu

If no kind of controller is used and the motor is connected directly across any supply, the current is only limited by the resistance of the armature, (very very low) until the generated DC comes into play, there will be very high current until the rpm becomes stabilizes the load. This initial...

misc idea: small (3-phase BLDC) motors with built-in drivers.

Series motors: Automotive starters, lift motors (must always be under load or controlled),AC Hand tools, Routers, Vacuum motor. Series motors have very high torque and high rpm (the field current is the same as the armature) but rpm is controlled by load due to the runaway condition. If you...

misc idea: small (3-phase BLDC) motors with built-in drivers.

Without precise PID feedback down to the least input increment, which is the least possible command from the controller, then a BLDC servo motor which have a typical maximum pole count of 8 poles would be virtually useless without the PID loop. I try to use high quality motors such as Tamagawa...

Help identifying glass diode without markings (parallel to relay)

Sounds like you may be testing with a resistance range rather than a meter with a diode check? The diode check is actually a voltage drop test and allows enough current to test a semi-conductor. M.
