I want to know all of the maths concerning this scissor mechanism!

that was very nice but I don't think it helps or at least I don't know how to apply it to what I want, look at this where the force is applied on these images the one I need is centre vertical!! thanks

I want to know all of the maths concerning this scissor mechanism!

thank you Mr bertus! the wiki has nothing math wise and also the explaination goes on the say that "Extension is achieved by applying pressure to the outside of a set of supports located at one end of the mechanism, elongating the crossing pattern" I want to apply the force in the middle...

Just need a "simple" question answered around something I'm designing it's mechanical in nature but confident there are people who may be able to help

so I did what I said I was going to and made the larger driving gear on the compound 2ce the size and effectivly made it 10:1 ratio, this time the energy is passed over to the wheel but it take Exactly 2ce as long to do it so whats goin on here with this - energy and power wise? bassically the...

Just need a "simple" question answered around something I'm designing it's mechanical in nature but confident there are people who may be able to help

UPDATE: I'm chaging the bigger gear on the compound to twice the size (10:1 instead of 5:1) and working out the angular acceleration difference of the flywheel, procrastinating though must do it soon! thanks

Just need a "simple" question answered around something I'm designing it's mechanical in nature but confident there are people who may be able to help

I've edited the description of the workings of the device so hopefully easier to read and understand I want my flywheel whose inertia is 10.8kgm^2 and initial velocity is 3.3873422rad/sec, (after the 18th drop) it has a gear on the axle of it whose radius is 0.0002777777778m. And a...

Just need a "simple" question answered around something I'm designing it's mechanical in nature but confident there are people who may be able to help

I drew it in paint and it is coherent! I explained it with steps and I wrote out the proccess twice! and I think that if you can't understand what I said then when they ask you a question you might not have the insight to reply and thats only because I thought of it nothing else

Just need a "simple" question answered around something I'm designing it's mechanical in nature but confident there are people who may be able to help

The accuracy for me is essential because if I round up or down there are always massive discrepencies in the later calculations, so I use all the digits it displays on my calculator and although it's probably not completly required it does feel good when the numbers line up exactly and to the...

Just need a "simple" question answered around something I'm designing it's mechanical in nature but confident there are people who may be able to help

thanks Mr Delta Prime but I'm banned from that site because I was asking about my inverter way back when I was on that project and they were saying that and something about not being able to do it and they wouldn't like to be part of eliminating myself from the gene pool using voltages that in...

and it's also like you can't change gear from 1 to 6, you have to go in succession through the gears so the gear has to match the speed, if you catch my drift

its like peddling like mad in first on a push bike and then change gear so that its a nice slow motion smooth motion, thanks

Just need a "simple" question answered around something I'm designing it's mechanical in nature but confident there are people who may be able to help

I'm having a great deal of difficulty finding info on changing gears and I can't find a single example of what I have here I appreciate the engineering toolbox site but don't know how or even if I can apply the information found over there with what I'm doing. preferably I'd like someone who is...

Just need a "simple" question answered around something I'm designing it's mechanical in nature but confident there are people who may be able to help

before I can understand I need to know the theory behind how it works! I want to keep the angular acceleration 0.05rad/sec^2 whilst extending the time it takes for the block to fall
