Switch on light when a different dimmable light is on

From your description, I would think you just need a 'multi-gang' switch. I don't know how your 'remote' switch is configured, but I would think the same signal to remotely turn-on your dimmer light, could also be used to turn 'on' the non-dimmable one at the same time (and 'off' again). Any...

ZIF-sockets from eBay etc -quality OK?

I should have checked the ebay ad you linked to first, TTL. I'm going to have to agree with dorke. They're out of China and are most likely fakes. I rescind my previous recommendation, I wouldn't buy them from that vendor.

Bring a shipping container the size of a tractor trailer with you, *steve* We'll hit the liquidation warehouses before the Chinese lady gets there.

    DC Actuator problem

We don't doubt your problem and I can't think of an easy way to 'stop the electromotor' like you've heard of. I always try simple first. What kind of lever activates your actuator? Is it worn, bent or out of alignment? Like kellys-eye asked, does it need to be slightly repositioned? I heard...

    Firelite ms-5ud

Did it come with a manual with a troubleshooting section? My first guess is that there's a problem with the charger (or batteries going bad), detected, and this is your early warning that the specified voltage just dropped below spec (and will probably go lower from now on). That's my uninformed...

ZIF-sockets from eBay etc -quality OK?

I buy a lot of the genuine article from hobbyists. They may be fake, but they may also be the real deal. I have tons of genuine parts bought from other guys like me. Companies surplus perfectly good components and hardware, and industrious scroungers like me salvage what we can from them...

    Hobart 1860-M scales

You might have to contact the company for help or repair. I just took a look a the manual on-line, the only thing I see that might be a part of the problem is that the 'warm-up' display can be affected by problems with the weight on the platter during initialization. I'd take the platter off...

Error accessing file(s) on windows network share

You betcha Harald. Half of the problems I solve are due to the fact that I've seen the same thing before. The more you tell us about the problem you saw and the discovered reason you found to fix it, helps other people who run into a similar situation. I know you were giving us a play-by-play...

magnetek invert e 6400 switch to battery lights came on for a short time went off cannot get them s

Is the switch itself bad? Did you blow a fuse in it? Check the simple things first. Might be whatever senses the situation that the causes the unit to switch over to batteries is bad, but I'd be checking the easiest stuff first.

    110 vac relay

Can you get in contact with the mfgr of your z-wave relay and ask specifically about your application? They might already have seen questions about this, and possible references for what you need. Maybe Google the z-wave relay and see if anybody else has posted anything anywhere about wiring...

    Terminal Block and Ring Connectors

They're rated by 'stud' size. The screw in the barrier strip will be size '6' or '8', or whatever. You just need to use kellys-eye's advice and find-out the barrier strip screw (or 'stud' size), and then buy ring-tongue lugs that are the same size. Since you're asking - be SURE you buy...

    Nostalgia

I've still got the Sinclair ZX80 and Atari 400 I got for my oldest boy. I paid a bundle to have a computer place build my boy an Intel 166 before they even hit the commercial market. Paid-off. I was never much interested in software. I still just fix stuff. He's a Ph.D. with Google now.

Help to identify markings in schematics

Check the 'Resources' section of this forum for lots of good information. First photo is of an arrow directing you to find the corresponding connection (the label above the arrow) elsewhere in the schematic. They just do that so they don't have to draw a lot of crossing and interconnecting...

    Type of sensor for project

My mother and grandmother slit the chicken's throat, then let it run around the yard to bleed-out. They told me that was to drain the blood from the chicken, otherwise it remained in the body, making cooking unnecessarily difficult. If I did that today, PETA would have MY head. Never did it...
