    I'd start by cleaning the tape head surfaces with alcohol. Then I'd make sure all my cable connections were correct to the amplifier (and that you remember which push-buttons on the amp to engage to hear the tape deck). Try the simple stuff first.

    Might be multiple fuses. One for the RX-V470, and another for the output socket to the CD player. You might want to take the cover off (with the power off), and look around inside of it.

    You're blowing your fuse because you're doing something wrong and the fuse is protecting your meter. If you think you have a problem replacing costly fuses, imagine your dilemma replacing the meter. Use the correct range. If you forget, you're the problem, not the meter.
