    Vintage, speaking toy (Mattel, Pat Pat Rocket) died after about minute

    Looks like a lot of corrosion on the ‘back’ side. Probably traces have corroded and gone open circuit. You can clean the board with IPA to see if any damage has occurred and then fix the traces with small magnet wire jumpers across the open/broken areas. Martin

    I give up!. Please read about switches and the different types. Toggle, rocker, push etc. All come in latching and non latching.

    Wrong again. Toggle switches can and do latch. I think you’re thinking about software/micro processor based switches like a keyboard or game controller. They are typically tactile switches. Martin

    The ‘240V’ is just the maximum voltage the component is rated for. It can happily be used on lower voltages too. Martin

    Both units you linked to are Makita. By definition, these are construction tools with different gearbox or Chuck/shaft housings. I think you’ll need to buy LOTS of different types of motors to try. This will most definitely be a trial and error scenario. Most, if not all motors are fairly quiet...

    Completely agree. I don’t get much time to sit down in front of a computer/laptop these days. Some web sites are a REAL pain. Especially trying to fill in forms, dragging the screen left, right, up and down!. I give up half the time. Martin

    Well done. I like your enthusiasm. simulators are great, I’m learning (slowly) LTspice when I get spare time. But real world components, PCB traces, breadboard and wires will also affect tolerances, resistance, inductance etc. As Harald pointed out, not sure what a 1 nano Ohm resistor is good...

    What tool is it? What exactly is your dad pressing or pushing on? If it’s lack of strength for any reason, a hand drill switch or a bench pillar drill lever will require very different modifications. Please supply us with more information. Martin

    No, we didn’t say that. Replace the X2 cap. (You can test without it, but replace it). It also doesn’t ‘send power’ to anything else. Martin
