    Denon AVR-1912 E2/EA

I thought I was onto something for a minute. Looking at Ic 107 data sheet pin 1 is Com (ground) pin2 is In and pin3 is the Output. So any measurements to pin1 are of no help. What is the voltage of pin2 to ground? What is the voltage of pin 3 to ground?

    Denon AVR-1912 E2/EA

Goodness. I'm getting lost in a sea of numbers. So, are we back to where we were before? When you were getting +8 cp14 pins 14,15 and -8v pins 16,17 and at the top (cathode) of D801 But then losing the -8v on the bottom (anode) side of the diode? On Ic107 you say your getting .002v on pin one...

My apologies for not suggesting that you verify your oddball voltages with another meter. Congrats on discovering it. :)

Reduce off grid freezer startup current?

Thanks for pulling it apart Externet. I did a quick web search and some say it works but also many think it's a scam. I'm not sure, but here's what a few people said; It allows full start up current and then chops the sine wave like a dimmer to save energy. This could be beneficial but also...

Reduce off grid freezer startup current?

Good idea, but most small fridge compressors already have a ptc circuit built in. It's usually behind the black insulation block where the motor wires terminate. It should be shown on the wiring diagram too. That is, if there is one.

I just take that to mean; move your black test lead to the proper AGnd reference. (As you are doing). It's a good idea to try different testpoints of (Agnd) to verify their all reading the same. Perhaps another dodgy ribbon cable is throwing a monkey wrench into the mix? I believe your best...

Reduce off grid freezer startup current?

I believe you. If that's the case, the inrush current to start the motor should never be over 2amps and your 1200w inverter should have no problems with starting it. You may want to double check the actual draw with a clamp on amp meter. Maybe the compressor is on its way out?

Reduce off grid freezer startup current?

I hate to say it, but I believe this is a scam. If you open it up there's nothing in there but a capacitor. It helps with power factor correction but doesn't actually save you anything.

Reduce off grid freezer startup current?

I agree. I don't see the current stated in the manual, but it's fused at 13amps and the model #436 hints that its 436 watts, or 1.9amps. Start up current is probably about 12amps. They do have electronic soft starters for motors but I don't know much about them. If the above is accurate, your...

    Denon AVR-1912 E2/EA

Even if the raw supply voltage was coming through, it would still be the correct polarity. The voltage you read can't be higher than the source. Therefore your reading has to be the combination of + and - voltage. Don't think of it as the + rail suddenly switched to negative, think of it as the...

Sounds like a rogue ground fault on the positive side. In other words, when you read from Gnd to pin 1, you are reading the positive voltage on Gnd in addition to the negative side back feeding through the components. Because you have both a pos and neg rail, your Gnd reference will be giving...

    Digital piano won't power ON

Ahhh, we are trying to find the reason D23 failed. Capacitors being out of spec is a likely culprit. I'm not nit picking. I'm merely responding to your silly metaphor with one that matches. If you follow along, you would know that Alektron has not reassembled it yet. Their are many reasons...

Ahhh, (pulling out my hair) Here's hoping the reversed polarity didn't make toast of that IC. Everyone makes a few mistakes, but remember, just one screw up can wreak irrevocable damage. I don't like that the diagram doesn't match reality. One, IC801 pinout doesn't match, Two, diode layout...

Yes, I thought I noticed some pinout discrepancies on ic801. I didn't say anything because I thought I had the wrong page. Regardless, you need to sniff out anything downstream of D800 and see what is overloading your 7v rail. Have you tried isolating some of the loads on that node? For...

No, but if you got a flat because a ball joint lead to its failure, it'd be wise to replace that too.

    Digital piano won't power ON

Depends on how important it is and if your willing to spend a few $ on it or not. Ideally, replace all caps with a higher voltage rating (provided they fit). Or minimally, just replace and caps with low capacitance or high esr values. The call is yours. I would just reinstall Q8 if it tests good.
