    How to check if this electronic part is functional

    Looks like some sort of sensor. Possibly a thermistor?. You can check it by heating it and see if the resistance decreases (or increases). If this is internal to the fuser, I doubt HP sell it separately. Martin

    The battery is 18650 cells. If you remove the tape/pad from the battery it will reveal more. Does the device only have a 5V USB input?. A really cheap multimeter would suffice for this. Check the battery voltage first. Using these below a certain voltage can destroy them. And circuitry can/will...

    The link you provided says 3 volt or 5 to 12V for the LEDs. Why 9V? Run both with a phone or USB 5V adapter/charger. One simple switch. “These Fire Kits are ready for either 3 Volt DC, 5-12 Volt DC battery or regulated adapter, or 7-19 Volt AC/DCC/DC operation”. Martin

    Hi Hank, I believe your problem is with the dimmer. LEDs require PWM (pulse width modulation) to control brightness as opposed to incandescent lights. Martin

    Isn’t a charger and BMS completely different circuitry? With charger limiting the total current and the BMS monitoring each cell (balancing). When integrated they would indeed monitor, sense and current limit. Martin
