16 Volt DC conversion to 12 Volt AC

Ok, I was thinking the h bridge was switched one way for positive and then for neg. Sorry but I still don't get the osc to h bridge connections.

16 Volt DC conversion to 12 Volt AC

Why is buffering so important here? Is more buffering necessary as the frequency increases to prevent distortion?

16 Volt DC conversion to 12 Volt AC

Thanks @duke37 for the clarification. I see your using one gate for the oscillator and another gate(s) to invert signal for the low side. Very cool. Wouldn't this need a dc offset cap to bring voltage into the negative range after the oscillator?

16 Volt DC conversion to 12 Volt AC

Thank you. A sketch or link would be a great if you have a chance. I get the oscillator part but was thinking the H bridge needed two separate inputs to switch polarity.

16 Volt DC conversion to 12 Volt AC

Found this 555 circuit at: http://www.555-timer-circuits.com/12v-to-240v-inverter.html I'm thinking if output transformer was modified to a 2:1 ratio, the output would be about 20vac?

16 Volt DC conversion to 12 Volt AC

@Duke Can you elaborate on this please? Wouldn't you need more than one gate to produce AC?

    fluorescent ballast replace question

Because you've covered the only other possibilities. Often a failing ballast will not produce enough current to light the lamps. As the lamps age, they draw more current. That's why it worked good for a few months. Best to just replace both ballast and lamps.

    USA to uk convert

It doesn't sound feasible to me. For the expense and trouble of modifying it, you could buy a new kettle. Altering the plug or power cord alone is a bit scary considering you'll likely have water dripping off the thing. I enjoy the circuit discussion but imo; the peace of mind knowing my...

    Microwave not powering on???

You sure of that? Is your meter capable of reading high ohm readings? A meter that can read into the meg range will do, but a megger meter would be the best way to check insulation. The 25v drop across the thermal sounds like a problem. It may read continuity fine but not be capable of passing...

    Microwave not powering on???

Humidity circuit is fascinating. (Thank you)Basically it changes resistance as humidity changes. It did say it will display "Error" if the bridge circuit has a problem so that's probably not your problem. I'd start looking at power supplies at perspective test points. Like +5 and +15vdc. May...

    Microwave not powering on???

Nice post Hop. That schematic now has me wondering how one would check the humidity sensor. Ohm value?

    Microwave not powering on???

High voltage diodes can't be read by most meters in diode mode, but you should be able to read a voltage drop across each diode. (Yes, all connected in series.) Disconnect anode side of the three diodes and apply an external +9 or +12 volt battery to it (obviously disconnected from household...

    Led's headlight issue

I'd recommend mechanically crimping or screwing your connections over solder alone. A 25 watt resistor shouldn't get too hot, but I'd use shrink tube as opposed to electrical tape on its leads. You might want to use a resistor that can be mounted to the car frame or fender where it Will act as...

Sunnysky, your 5 watt recommendation sounds way too small. (Or am I missing something?)

    Led's headlight issue

10 ohms sounds good, but how did you get 1.4 watts? I was thinking that .12a would be drawn by each led with supplemental parallel resistors added of about 9 ohms that would draw an additional 1.47a totaling near the original 1.71a drawn by the bulbs. This would require 25watt resistors...

    Led's headlight issue

Use a clamp on DC meter or an ammeter capable of handling at least 2amps. You can break apart the wiring at a splice point in the light circuit or pull the fuse and insert the leads across it to complete circuit.
