    Agreed, thats why I said Generally. I wouldn't expect to see resistive loads on a hvac control transformer. I didn't know there are motors that are not inductive. Can you elaborate on this Chris? John

    Not the primary, but the secondary could potentially be a problem if it had other loads on it (causing it to run undervoltage). Imo, 28v is not terribly high for that transformer. I guess the million dollar question is what else runs on that transformer? If for instance, it also runs a damper...

    Consider buying a resistor kit that comes with a wide assortment from a supplier like digikey or mouser. I like radio shack, but their selection is sparse and overpriced.

    When I'm getting strange readings, I like to switch to an analog meter that can show ac or pulsing dc signals. A dvm will flash random unreadable numbers, while the needle of an analog will jump around giving you some idea of what you have.

    I wonder why it just doesn't have a coiled element like other time delay fuses? I can't make out the colors either. Looks like a gold band where it don't belong. I'm with 73 de Edd,... take a hammer to it and take a reading.

    Perhaps a Lm3914 to drive the leds? Sounds like a big hurdle would be, back lighting each number with an led and getting the thing back together. You could also try paralleling a small light off the analog leds, but that sounds like microsurgery to me.

    If your motor full load current is only 6amps, you can use 14 awg wire. Motor leads should be sized at least 125% of the flc. #14 is good for 20amps at 75C. John
