    Shaded pole motor.

@WHONOES That looks great. A little on the big side for my miniatures. BTW, why pulleys instead of PWM?. I am curious to the motor you used. Martin

    Shaded pole motor.

Hi all, I am making miniature electrical tools like table saws, sliding mitre saws, drill press, bench grinder etc. Some of the tools use food stick blender motors and others use the 775 dc motors. 2 hard drive-related questions for PC part-replacing project.

Hi, you certainly can replace a 3.5 with a 2.5 SATA HDD. As long as your PC has SATA cables. Years ago power was an issue as PC HDDs had seperate power cables. Speed is dependant on the HDD. Not necessarily size. Martin

    LI-ION 18v Battery Pack

My last statement means: Run wire to the tool via a battery. AKA umbilical cord. This actually dates back to the 80s when Kyosho launched electric RC helicopters. Martin

    LI-ION 18v Battery Pack

A cordless 18v tool, especially saws, wont run for 10 minutes on 1.5Ah batteries. What ever battery you build, get as much Ah as you can. 18v tools are also quite comfortable on 20v. So you really can play around and get as much power and hours of run time as you like. All my 18v tools are now...

    Laptop portable charger

If it bothers you to take a ‘plug’ for your phone?. You certainly wouldn’t like to take a charger that can output different voltages and have diffent output connections then!. I don’t understand the problem here. Just take laptop charger and charge other devices via the laptop. Martin

Troubleshoot great old Kenwood home stereo power amplifier.

You certainly have done a fine job so far. I would start by looking very closely for dry/cracked solder joints all over the board. Use a magnifying glass, follow traces and put a little finger pressure on components as you go round the board. Be methodical. Try this first and let us know your...

    Quick n Dirty answer needed

Yes, I saw that earlier but thought I read he’d changed the LED and 555. Can the IC seat correctly in the breadboard with jumpers under it? I still can’t see a negative to the 555. Martin

    Hamilton-Beach Dehydrator - thermal fuse?

Although very similar to diode, it is probably a silicon PTC thermistor. What makes you think it’s blown?. Have you tried heating and cooling to see whether the resistance changes?. Martin

Make a mobile internal storage a removable storage ?

If the phone can be recognized via USB, then it can be used for external storage. However, some phones ask the user for permission to trust that computer before access is given. In that case, the phone screen would need to be on as well. Plug it into a USB and see if it is recognized first...
