Hi Jake, I couldn't actually open the linked pictures. The double connector is probably because your battery is in the middle. So charger/adapter to battery and unit being powered. Something like this?

    Before I start testing....

Yes, they are called Axial caps. But I doubt they are causing your problem. They would block or fade the high frequency to the tweeter. (If it is a band pass filter). More than likely the board where the DC adaptor connects to the unit. Martin

How to Charge an 8 AA NiMH Battery Holder?

Hi jakfish, I presume the batteries are in series 9.6V? Any radio controlled transmitter charger will work. Providing it is 9.6V. Then cut off the end if the polarity is reversed. From memory Futaba were the odd ones out. But just solder the required size jack with correct polarity. Martin

    Smallest solar power source

What about a quick shop at poundland! Better still, the 99p shop:). They usually have tiny solar lights running off 2AA batteries (3V). Might be worth looking into? EDIT: Sorry, didn't read properly. Ignore my post.. Martin

    Before I start testing....

Hi Wimmer, That board on the left with a "toroidal" looks like a high pass filter. It definitely sounds like a capacitor...The internal power supply is probably to blame. The only real way to know for sure is with an ESR meter. However, if you have a few similar caps to the boards caps, you can...

    Diodes

I suppose the diode drop of .3 to .7 volts plus the breakdown voltage of the reverse biased diode. This all depends on the diodes used. Martin

Recording the entire signal of an RJ11 line

Recording incoming calls, nuisance calls for evidence can be legal in certain circumstances. Recording your own outgoing calls is legal if the third party are aware they are being recorded. However, to automatically record incoming and outgoing calls without permission is an offence as Dave...

    LED power supply help

Hi Ian, I suppose the first thing that springs to mind is the negative connections. Have you got the kathode of the LEDs to the collector and base to negative rail? Some people join the kathode and base to negative! This will obviously keep lights on. Without being rude! did you follow the...
