    You would need to run the 741 from 9V because the 741s output can only go within 2 to 3 Volts of the supply. Adam

    If you don't have a 358 you could run it configured for single supply. But you would have to subtract the 1/2 supply reference voltage from the output. Adam

    The circuit posted may need some hysteresis to prevent electrical chatter. There are many ways of doing this and the simple circuit shown is one of them. Adam

    Lithium Thionylchloride batteries sulphate from sulphate ions, it's a natural process which protects them from self discharge. It's a form of oxidisation. Adam

    I believe desulfation works. You do this to some lithium batteries that have been stored for a while just by applying a low resistance load for a small amount of tme. But if the battery has been stored for too long and the sulphate has hardened too much then they can not be recovered. Adam

    I agree it's not very clear. Does he want set stages when the LEDs are either on or off. Or does he want to fade in the colours? With an RGB LED you can have over 16 million shades of colour from the combination of different voltages. PWM is one way I can think of doing it. Adam

    I didn't look at this thread until a bit late, I wonder why :) Have a look at this that I have done for you and then tell how does the flux density increase by the square of the turns, am I missing something? The inductance changes with the square of the turns, is that what you mean? Thanks...

    As both Kris and Steve have said you need feedback to monitor the output voltage and adjust the duty cycle either way depending on whether the voltage is higher or lower than what you need. Vout=Vin/(1-D) where D is your duty cycle. Adam
