    Beginner project

The only thing you have not designed yet is the experienced fisherman will know when to change technique. Going from a small smooth 'yo-yo' pattern to erratic lifts and drops of the rod. I know a really good designer who could do just that!! With a 555 timer. He loves them. @Arouse1973 Martin

MagneTek Series 6400, Model 6415, Power Converter

Sorry to say this, but it appears this converter is not suitable for charging. Here is a link to an old thread I have just been reading. Martin

Help with this part - 64-2092PBF

Hi Dave, I was reading about the TO-263 as I had never heard of one. And found this chart. Package Junction to Case (°C/Watt) Junction to Air (°C/Watt) TO-3 5 60 TO-39 12...

    Dashcam interfering with DAB reception

Hi paj, It definitely sounds like the dashcams' wiring needs shielding. Or more shielding. I have read that a 300mhz ferrite 'snap on' core can do the trick. Apparently, it's something to do with the initial bands given to DAB and then extra bands afterwards. Those extra bands are the ones being...

MagneTek Series 6400, Model 6415, Power Converter

Here is the schematic for your converter: http://www.parallaxpower.com/6400_6600/6400schematic.pdf The manual: http://www.parallaxpower.com/6400_6600/6400 owner operator guide.pdf There should be at least 1 fuse. Not sure how they are installed. Either in a square fuseholder you push in to pop...

    0402 vs 0201

Hi rahul, As long as the 0201 components have the same values or higher, it wont be a problem to make the circuit half the size or smaller. It might be a problem for repairing it though. Martin

Which resistors, capacitors, etc. to choose for H-Bridge DC Motor Controller?

Hi bonbonbaron. I ask myself the same question. I am sure I will get shot down here by the experts but, for me it depends on the individual circuit. I am having a major problem with a 9v circuit at the moment. Also I would add to break down the circuits to individual voltages. That's where the...

Help with this part - 64-2092PBF

These ones are cut off too. I have no idea why. Somebody will though. Sit tight. Yes the TO-263 is the SMT version of the TO-220 I think. But cannot handle as much power due to the lack of the metal tab. Martin

Help with this part - 64-2092PBF

Hi shady, The only reference I can find is an NPN 2092 transistor. But somebody will be along shortly to let you know exactly what they are. EDIT: The centre pin has been cut off and they seem to be connected in series too. Martin

    Headphone cable broke

Lol, perhaps a little practice on tidying the repair would help too.. On a side note, that white rolled item top left quarter of your photo may or may not help in hands shaking.:p Martin

    Headphone cable broke

Glad you sorted them out. Maybe after a few repairs, you wont have such a shoddy soldered joint!:) Martin

    Headphone cable broke

Hi Samuel. As already mentioned, it is the strain relief to stop the cable being pulled out and also stops the cable fracturing/breaking. You can carefully cut it off (as already mentioned), Use a sharp knife and make slow passes until you are through it. Or just cut it off and re-attach the...

    0402 vs 0201

The simple answer is YES. You can replace higher values too, in certain circumstances. 1/4 watt, 1/2 watt or 2 watts wont matter either. This is their maximum dissipation. As Davenn replied, please show a circuit. Martin

old garage door opener circuit board

No dramatics this side of the pond. Just SO, 117Vac primary is your mains in...from the wall socket (or what ever). Sorry John (line voltage). The secondary is the 38Vac to power the circuit connected. Basically, Primary is IN and secondary is OUT. Martin

Haha, love you too john. I might have completely mis-understood the OP . But, wasn't the question about Primary and secondary? Geezzz,

old garage door opener circuit board

Hi James, The input voltage is your mains voltage. That is the PRIMARY. The secondary is the lowered outputput voltage from the transformer. Primary is 220v 'for example', Secondary is the 12v output . Years of physics wont help you with the basics, Basics are what you asked, and basics is...
