old garage door opener circuit board

Where did that come from? The OP asked about primary and secondary. I said if 240v in primary!!!! And 14v output secondary...... Happy days. What's the problem ? Your physics and math do impress me.! One day I will be like you too!! Martin

old garage door opener circuit board

As far as I can see, Nobody really answered your question. @davenn and @Minder answered the AC input variations which is country orientated. Some countries have 110ac and others have 240ac. So, the primary is 'your' input voltage 110v or 240v. The secondary is what the small transformer will...

    Mains filter/conditioner schematic.

No, because it's still an AC source. A good piece of additional safety would be to use a GFCI. A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter. In the case of an earth fault occuring, it will shut off the supply in as little as 1/40 secs. Have a read here. You shouldn't leave home without one.. EDIT: It...

    Mains filter/conditioner schematic.

Some good points mentioned above. But it's only some venues! More than likely that the Earth cable has been tapped into from another circuit or room/location causing a difference in the ground reference for the circuit you are using. If this is the case, there really is nothing you can do. Maybe...

    What resistor is this?

Hi snake_1 That looks like a 68Ω, 9 watt power resistor. I am not very good with power resistors so I could be wrong.!! Somebody will come and either agree or tell you what it is. Martin

    Dell Lcd backlight inverter.

Hi Dave, Sounds like you fell on your feet. I have a friend in Doncaster (UK) that worked for a plastics extrusion company that went bust.. He got a bank loan and bought all the machinery and tooling. He now has a very successful business too. Hmm, may be I should look out for a failing...

    Blutooth speaker

Hi cncguy, I am guessing that nobody has answered your questions because you are intending to 'play' with mains voltages and have no idea what you are 'playing' with! I would advise you to look at Youtube videos for 'DIY bluetooth speaker' and run it from batteries or a sealed lead acid battery...

    Dell Lcd backlight inverter.

Hi Dave, That's very interesting. And congrats for grabbing a corner of the market. In the UK we've had Aldi for years too. Lidl is another fast growing supermarket, although I have seen an increase in their prices recently. I don't personally shop there very often. Have you contacted Aldi for...

    Dell Lcd backlight inverter.

OK, I just opened my old Dell E193FPc 19" lcd monitor. I have the same colour wires and four connectors too. On mine, the Blue / Black connectors go on the outsides. And the Pink / White go to the inside connectors. I hope this helps and is the same as yours. I took some photos too if required...

    Dell Lcd backlight inverter.

Hi, seems to me that you have the same colours doubled up in both sets of connectors? Can you confirm this? Can you double check the voltages in these connectors? It might be a simple case of 'looming' off the main taps. 12v on thicker wire and 5v on thinner. Both can be connected either way...

    Servo motor acting strange?

Hi Jimbo, @Bluejets has already pointed out some important points to you. The Brown is negative, Red is positive and Orange is signal. The other colours are marked on the board . I would re-solder all wires to corresponding board markings and start from fresh. If your servo is going in one...
