Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

Hmmm. Quite a voltage drop lol 0.67V on one leg of R158 & one leg of Q151 Other leg of R158 = 0V and 0V as well on other 2 legs of Q151 DMM was set on continuity/diode checking

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

On the blue line from the out leg on the 7805 to pin 54 (AVDD) on IC I get 715 with dmm on continuity. Hope I have interpreted correctly from where to where to measure

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

On the red line between pin 77 PWR_DOWN on on the ic and out leg of 7805 I get 1681 with my dmm set to continuity. Could be 1681 mΩ

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

Thanks davenn "look at the bottom of the first diag" On that diag the red and blue lines stop on either side of R158, a 4k7 resistor. I'm probably being stupid.

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

Just to be clear: I found CP552 on bottom left of page 77 of manual and pin 9 = CNT_MUTE and pin 13 = CPU_GND

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

Please excuse my lack of knowledge. Is the 5.5V reg you mention the 7805 (IC104)? If it is I can't find anywhere on your diagrams where the blue & red lines reach the 7805. I have spent some time on the yellow line and it looks as if there is continuity there. I cannot be quite sure that I am...

Wow Dave Thanks. You are beyond awesome! Will now work my way through them

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

And if anybody can answer my question in post #35 it would help me enormously. Would hate to break something while investigating how they seperate

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

I am battling to follow the route from the base of Q116 to the CPU. The base leg connection splits into 3 immediately. Th first connection is not it as it goes straight back to bottom leg of Q116 via a resistor R107. But which one of the other 2 connections should I be following. Q116 is just...

Proper method to disconnect cable lugs

The unusual flexible wire is probably silicon coated wire. Seriously nice cable

So glad you know what we were doing. I will check for continuity as you mentioned. Thanks

I have seen on some site that the 7805 is a possible suspect

And I suppose even if you could flash the software on the old chip onto the new chip there is no guarantee that the software on the old chip is not corrupted

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

220V 50Hz The relay now connects when I power the coil whilst it's not on board. So even if there was voltage on the coil the relay would not have connected power through because the contacts couldn't make contact. But no voltage on coil when inserted on board and I power up And am I correct...

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

I have found 2 places that can supply CXP740010 chip. Now are all CXP740010 chips equal software wise or do companies who use these use their own custom software?

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

I have managed to solder the 2 ends of the coil wire together. I also found that the relays contacts wre burnt and not making contact. Bent the one leg slightly and they now make contact when the coil is powered. But set will still not power up

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

Investigation continues. I pulled the relay, previously I had taken the cover off the relay to see if it kicked in. Checking continuity on the coil I noticed that the coil wire had broken. Now it might have broken with all my fiddling on the board previously or it might have broken earlier...

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

Not sure what you mean by twin receiver But not totally convinced that it's mcu. On switch on red led flashes 8 times and then goes solid. Don't know if it's gone into a protection mode. I have seen that if voltage is not present on rails it will go into protection mode Currently trying to...

Denon AVR 1804 amp won't switch on

I am seeing just under 5V on pins 88 ,89, 52-54 (difficult to be exact) but that means that power is entering IC 201 (CXP740010) which probably means this IC is stuffed. Assuming I can get hold of a replacement IC (long shot) what are the chances of replacing this successfully (de- resolder)?
