    PIR Detector.... $3.95... Cheap!

Guys, I get email fliers from MPJA about every two weeks. If you're not familiar with them you should know that some of their items are not stock items. When they're gone, they're gone. The item description usually states this when applicable. Since we get quite a few postings regarding PIR...

    Human Power Generation

The generator would need to be variable speed to account for the fact that I will not pedal at a constant rate. You don't need a generator/alternator with variable speed capability. A small automotive alternator with OEM integral or external voltage regulator wired to a storage battery...

    Australian - Magnificence!!!

That little dance she does must be her own creation. I love watching her do it because she and it have an element of innocence. I can't say the same for some of those still shots they made her do. Those poses are soft porn-esc which in my opinion is exactly opposite of her persona in that dance...

How do I run a 24VAC solenoid off of a couple of 9V's?

Steve, that all makes sense. Big valve controlled by wimpy solenoid. This design should be called a Jujitsu Valve. :p Chris

Huh?? Leaking oil? BP? What did I miss? .... Wait, I just read some of the comments left on that page. Why bother reading them though? They're exactly the kind of "protoplasm" I was referring to. I still don't get the "tunnel" thing though. Was it a reference to the mindless reader comments...

How do I run a 24VAC solenoid off of a couple of 9V's?

I just had a thought because it would be a shame to have to eat the cost of that valve you have. Why not use a power tool battery? Anything from 12V to 18V will certainly power your solenoid. Chris

How do I run a 24VAC solenoid off of a couple of 9V's?

Actually, I find it surprising that your solenoid resistance would be so much lower than the one used in the video. On the other hand I'm surprised that two series 9V batteries would drive the large solenoid valve in that video anyway. Chris

    Our Perimeter Has Been Breached!

ABC/Yahoo news has discovered that there is a segment of society that doesn't fit their packaged protoplasm view of their readers. Personally, I think we're better off being obscure. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/this-could-be-big-abc-news/first-look-25-raspberry-pi-computer-132227303.html...

How do I run a 24VAC solenoid off of a couple of 9V's?

The solenoid valve used in that video must draw much less current than yours. That said he will be going through 9V batteries faster than sh!t through a Goose! Thanks for posting the video because we have a much better picture of what's being designed here. I don't see how it can be...

I'm a bit confused here. I've never worked with servo motor design but I thought I understood their basic use, which is to reposition the armature between 3 positions and do this rapidly. Rapidly is where I'm getting lost here because the last thing you want on a RR Crossing Gate is rapid...

    Flashing 5watt led?

If you want to test the circuit with standard LEDs you'll have to replace R3 with a higher resistance. Anything from 100 Ohms to 1KOhms will suffice for testing. The disk cap in your link would be the same type as used on pin 5, which is 0.01uF. This is not a critical value though. Anything up...
