Did he edit it or completely delete it? Nothing else makes sense. Can we have it back in its entirety? Chris

    Multi I/O timer circuit advice

This quote is marked post 1. Where Is the beginning to this topic? Chris Edit: This is even weirder. I searched for all posts by cptnjack and this is it! Just one??

Well, we'll all have our reasons for going the easy Picaxe rout. It could range from the absolute minimum startup cost that are hard to beat, or it could be because it's the absolute easiest rout to learning how to program and use uC's. I purchased VB6 soon after it was introduced but I've been...

I believe so. The SerTX pin sends data back to the PC and interpreter during program download and debugging. Chris

    diode for collapsing magnetic field

I had to piece together pertinent posts to give context to my quote. As you can see It was in reference to screwball's latching statement because I missed the error on the schematic. I have no dispute with the manufacturer's data on improving drop out time. While on the subject I would think...

You won't know until you feel the pit goblins snapping at your feet. :D I'm not a qualified baker (strictly a grill man) so I can't evaluate. :D Chris

    diode for collapsing magnetic field

screwball, sorry about that. If I seemed dismissive it's because I probably was. I had peeked at Blank Stare's modified schematic earlier but I didn't catch that error. :o Chris

    Feedback on creating circuit boards

I get that. It's just the different ways that each of us approach things. If it were you that missed the fact that diode's anode wasn't connected to the low side of the coil I would have said "CC better have another peek at the OP's schematic. You missed something". ;) Hey, this is meant as...

    Feedback on creating circuit boards

Here's a classic example of standing on the rim of the Verbiage Pit. All it would take is a little nudge and I'd fall in. https://www.electronicspoint.com/diode-collapsing-magnetic-field-t253057p7.html#post1499865 This member knows that I know how a flyback diode is connected. Hell, It's...

    diode for collapsing magnetic field

Oops, I didn't notice that error but I don't think that Blank Stare intended to draw it like that either. That's a schematic typo! :p screwball, I saw what I expected to see and those ovals on his schematic just served to obscure or distract my eyes. Yes, wired like that creates a latch. Chris

That's not the way the flyback diode will be installed. See here.. https://www.electronicspoint.com/attachments/5844d1350500149-diode-collapsing-magnetic-field-aaa-finaldraft-expanded-colorized.gif Chris

    10 Ohm 100W Tapped Resistor

Dave, they're about 35 to 40 miles from me. So, unless I'm up that way I usually have them UPS to me. If you see something you want and if they won't ship to you let me know. I'll order and have it shipped to me and I'll ship it to you. Of course, this will unfortunately increase the total cost...

You lost me. The coil diode may delay the opening of the contacts a tad but we're taking milliseconds here. Chris

You could use this across the motor. http://www.mpja.com/1N1190AR-40A-600PIV-Rectifier-Diode/productinfo/18393+DI/ A 1N4001 will be OK for the relay coil. Chris

    diode for collapsing magnetic field

Yes, you have to flyback diodes oriented correctly. FYI, you're not a complete novice. They don't draw schematics like that. Theirs are more akin to a very confusing puzzle. :D Chris

Rob, we should have a an official name for what you're experiencing here. It's not unique to EP, as you will experience this on any tech site, even programming forums. I think I'll coin it "The Verbiage Pit" because you'll usually spend at least the next 6 posts clawing your way out with...
