    Motors such as this draw a lot of current (4 to 6 times full load) when starting. Let alone that the full load current is 8A,...(??? difficult to see) a dc to ac converter would be expensive to cover the loading. Also difficult to make out the hp rating...it looks like it should be 1/2 hp...

    Would not matter if your enchant was derived from a black hole. As the liquid washes over the board on each successive tilt of the tray, the board becomes exposed and one can clearly see whether the copper is completely etched or not. I cannot understand why you cannot see this effect.

    Not quite sure what you mean as when I do it, I usually have just enough echant to cover the board. Then while moving the liquid back and forth, the board can clearly be seen "between waves" so-to-speak. Again, I don't see where you need 12 minutes. Are you heating the etchant as I described...

    When using your ferric chloride, place it in a tray slightly larger than the board. Place the tray in hot water in the sink or whatever for a minute or so before popping the board in. (just be careful with Mum's stainless steel sink......:eek::eek:) I usually place it copper side up and jiggle...

    1.......No, power line is the signal carrier. 2 ......May not be strictly true but distance may be too far and signal attenuated by metering etc. You may be better off getting yourself a wired intercom using the spare cat6 you mentioned before.

    If input sensors have a switch action they may need to have a small circuit addition to give a short pulse similar to say a button press. That is fairly easy to do with a transistor and a capacitor maybe a resistor or two. Depends really on how much you know or are prepared to study- up on.

    The op wants it to operate for 1 second. Those domestic pir's are difficult to set exact times in minutes let alone seconds. As I pointed out, even on "test" the trip time would be too long. Hence reference to the Arduino unit.

    Difficult to say without knowing the specs. If you need to time a falling object then a count up timer in milliseconds would probably be a good start.
