    Too much noise for a uC, also micros will not handle ac on their input pins. More likely be a triac driver something like a 90805.

    Might pay to look if a masthead amp is currently being used or required as most of these operate on DC these days. Although ac powered units are still available.

    The 30cc class of r/c cars use a kill switch as mandatory equipment. Add some means of getting control over it, say one of the garage door remote/ receiver with a relay output, add to that a basic servo driver for maybe $4.00 Arrange the relay to operate as a shunt over part of a voltage divider...

    Broken part shown is a pot. Diagram shows variable speed switch. Front panel shows variable control. 3 out of 3 I'd say it's a pot.

    Appears there may be enough left of the damaged pot to get some sort of reading of the value. It will be a linear or curve B pot, and perhaps you can get a resistance reading off the 2 outer pins of what is remaining. If not there then carefully move the probes onto the exposed carbon track...

    The fan is there for a reason. You may end up doing damage elsewhere if it is not operating as designed. I'd say leave it as it is and maybe get some earplugs. I have a Bosch oven with a cooling fan and without it I would think there could be a good chance of a fire under extreme conditions...

    Quite likely inductor like that may read "dead short" and be ok. It depends what you used to measure the device. I'm guessing a multimeter.

    Does the supplier not know? Usual indication is how you described the unit....being 3 switching positions. A triac controller is usually an isolator switch and a pot style control(turns 270 degrees) together on a single plate or perhaps just the latter.

    The 3 speed control is likely to be a switched capacitor arrangement, very common these day. Designed for 60w split phase fans, not shaded pole motors.
