    Thermistor

Looks like a zero ohm resistor to me. I'd say you have other problems as well.

Dodgy Chinese flip flop...or my circuit?

    Edit: Flyback should be "freewheeling"

Working on a vintage fan - whole thing is electrified when plugged in. What am I doing wrong?

As with Minder and several others here, I am a qualified electrician and as such one gets to know those unqualified sometimes merely by their attitude to electrics. You have already stated initially you believed the item to be dangerous and yet you freely admit the both you and your brother have...

Dodgy Chinese flip flop...or my circuit?

O.k........ some of these relays (automotive) have an internal flyback diode. Anode to 85 and cathode to 86. If your wiring would have been connected this way (same as your drawing) then everything would have been ok. However, according to your photo, you have the switch line going to 85 and...

Show us a photo of what you have connected.

Dodgy Chinese flip flop...or my circuit?

I'd go with Dukes reply except it does mention there is an on-board flyback diode for the relay......oops....same time zone???

Working on a vintage fan - whole thing is electrified when plugged in. What am I doing wrong?

It is more than obvious that you have no idea about the dangers involved here or indeed how "non-contact voltage detectors" work. As has been said previously , take it to a qualified electrician, not radio shack, not local diy handy man who al shrug at any request for a...

    Race Car Headlight Flasher

If it's over your head now then any diagram would be a waste as there is also the programming. The circuit you posted above would give you a flash circuit but that's about all. If you went this way there would be many other logic requirements to give you what you need. For a start, the output...

    Race Car Headlight Flasher

Microcontroller such as Arduino, push button as input, speed/movement input sensor for pits operation, sensor to detect whether lights are currently on or off also as an input. Output elements to control the switching of the lights and finally knowledge on how to connect everything together and...

    Laminator for PCB's ?

A new approach I came across yesterday "cold toner transfer" . Uses a combination (8:3) isopropyl alcohol/ acetone to chemically melt the toner to the copper....looks ok idea....worth a try I thought... On utube somewhere

Arduino Ambilight Help - Question on amperage.

Just be aware that most of these pc power supply units require a signal from the motherboard to "power up". Not a big deal though as it usually just requires a jumper from the "power good" line to ground. ( usually green wire (pg) to black wire (ground) on the main plug (big one))you may have to...

    Help Identifying a Battery

A way to protect against reverse polarity is to feed the train circuit with a bridge rectiifier first. This protects against reverse polarity. Maybe they did this here as they have potential to spare.

    Drone (Help/Ideas)

The "single" shaft is obviously two, one inside the other. If you find that a difficult concept to imagine then the rest of a quad copter design will be rather an uphill battle I would imagine.

    Help Identifying a Battery

Most answers here seem to be on the right track (:)) Found this and maybe the train gets charged through the wheels, same as many miniature cars etc. Includes Two 1.2V Rechargeable Batteries -- Four AA 1.5V Batteries will be needed to operate the Train (not included)...

Depends on the type of pump and whether it is above or below the supply. Being a boat it could be either.

    Led's headlight issue

24w for headlight bulb seems rather small. 55W would be normal. 55w/60w for low/high beam.
