    Need Help! Master Buss Compressor

By re-capping he would have been refering to the electrolytic capacitors. These tend to dry internally with age and basically will no longer do the job they were intended for. I see 18 on the top main board ( they are the ones look like cans)with another 2 underneath.(large blue casing ...main...

Newbie here need help with a type of switch

OK. Best I can make of your request is the quote I have "cut-out" of the rest. This seems like a simple start/stop. It can be done with 1 normally open switch( your dash push button), one normally closed switch (your door switch) and a double pole single throw relay. First circuit shown below...

Newbie here need help with a type of switch

Is this to be used in a car door or as just push buttons on a bench or whatever..? Sounds to me like you only need one switch. Normally closed when the door is open.

Enable a load if the batterys voltage is more than x

This test shows 46mA and 34mA after putting it to sleep. http://gadgetmakersblog.com/arduino-power-consumption/ Also depends what voltage version and how you power it i.e. via regulator or direct.

Help! Repairing water damaged PCB from Massage chair.

Cleaning the IC pins should be straightforward but the ic socket almost impossible. Just a tip....you may (with the help of a second set of hands) be able to replace the pins one by one. Shown in the pics below I have taken a standard 8 pin socket and with the help of a pin, levered out the pin...

    110V 220V Systems

To me that seems to indicate a voltage anywhere in between 110v to 220 volts is ok. If there is no indication of a changeover switch anywhere (as there used to be many years ago) then, as I said above it is much like any TV you get these days. So all you would need in that case is an adaptor to...

    110V 220V Systems

As a general rule, conversion plugs only accomodate differing plug layouts, not different voltages. Most items like this these days are made for maybe 85 to 220v ac. It would normally be marked on the product model number label if it is. How do you know it's dual voltage..?

Need help with long distance circuit

If you use the attached circuit it should operate without any problem on your 60 ohm externel run and eliminate any external noise problems.

Help! Repairing water damaged PCB from Massage chair.

Jonathan, When using your meter on ohms and you get a reading O.L , that is not zero ohms, it means "Open Loop" or open circuit ...no circuit. You were partly correct in the latter part of your statement by saying "no connection between them" but as shown in Dorkes reply in #110...

Looking for DC wire to wire power connectors, overwhelmed | 350v+ 2A+

As Davenn said, more detail on what you are using, any circuit drawing you can muster up and possibly links would be helpful. Thermal run away is a transistor characteristic under certain circumstances. Playing with high voltage is asking for trouble.

    Programmable timer / usb pump

I built a pump control using an Arduino Pro Mini, an LDR to detect night and day for different pump run times, plug pack for power (could be solar) and a relay for interfacing to a small 240v submersible pump. Also has a switch to use short on/off times as a "test" to make sure "night" and "day"...

Need to pull item against a spring, fast. How to pick a "linear solenoid" ?

As I said previously but you apparently missed it, the most heat is generated during pull in and the more cycles you do, then the more heat is generated. Lipo batteries do not give out large bursts of energy. Yes, lipo batteries can deliver high current but it all depends on what lipo and what...

Help! Repairing water damaged PCB from Massage chair.

What are the red and black arrows? Assuming they are your meter probes, it is common practice to measure different points with reference to ground as common (black lead). i.e. black lead remains on the ground connection during all voltage measurements otherwise it just becomes too confusing and...

Help! Repairing water damaged PCB from Massage chair.

7812 same connections as 7805. Common, black probe.(ground) Attachment (24040) not working It would not be a real concern for me at the moment but at some time when things start to work, I'd be inclined to chuck those relays. My bet they won't be worth a cracker.

Need to pull item against a spring, fast. How to pick a "linear solenoid" ?

Your online calculator is the correct one. As for the battery, it's not how much current is in the battery but what current it can deliver. Capacity will give you how long it can deliver this current. Note that the capacity/time deminishes the higher the current. Battery spec sheets should show...

Need to pull item against a spring, fast. How to pick a "linear solenoid" ?

This one has a maximum pull of between 100grams and 2Kg's at distances of between 10 and 15mm so may be sufficient.( if you can believe the Chinese supplied data) The force changes inversely with the distance. It may pay to go to a higher wattage just to be sure. Note the size is rather large...

motorbike cdi designs for 1960 english

Just wondering what was the unreliable part of the points. Oil contamination used to be a problem with an old Norton Commando so maybe the same here. Cdi's tend to be a bit touchy when it comes to home built. Getting a high enough voltage in the right time for the main capacitor can be...

SA VK72D panasonic 5 disc stero is stuck at disc change

Sometimes you may find a slipping belt or a stripped gear (nylon) but these are complex mechanical designs. Difficult enough for the experienced to decipher a fault let alone try to diagnose from a distance.

[HELP] Trying to build very specific portable battery!

For your calculations, Alec_T did say you must also look at the inefficiency. Efficiency( approx 67%) and select a power source capacity from that. So your calculation of 10Ah needs to be much higher. Having a run time from 30 minutes to 1 hour means you will have to calculate at 1 hour as it...
