Need advice to buy a generator

The 2 ovens are rated at around 5kw (3 phase) plus "a few refrigerators" which is not a loading that I can relate to(much like saying I want a belt about this long). Same with 2 50"tv's , not a recognised loading. So on and on...... Since the oven units are 415v 3 phase, then the generator will...

    UV Sterilization Light

Can you show the whole device please (electrical not the outer tubing)? It appears, as Dave says, a discharge lamp. The small neon device would then be the glow switch or starter. Operation of the whole unit is, power comes in through the balast to one heater terminal, through the heater to the...

Lift 1 kg weight using wind power from a fan

As a physics student you should know that "work" is moving a certain weight a certain height for example. Then the rate of doing that work is "horsepower". I would consider that in your calculations also.

Dehumidifer - Does not Power On. Faulty Power Supply Board.

It's not a resistor , it's a choke (inductor) and it should have zero resistance.

    Current detection

As you have no background with electrical/electronics, best solution is an AC tong meter.(assuming your supply is 110V AC...you did not say...there are also DC tong meters available) EDIT ..... Clamp-on meter in other countries

    making a tiny heat element

My point is, the centre is one terminal and the outer case is the other for powering the heat coil. As those coils pull quite an amount of current, quite a substancial set terminals would have to be provided to make sufficient contact. With those in place, nowhere to pass the nylon.

    making a tiny heat element

Only problem with that is the heater section has to be fitted into a socket to heat up.

Fans too noisy in power supply

Fans are there for a reason, to move large amounts of air for cooling. If too noisy for you then only solution is to move it further away from you. It can be annoying I know, as i have a pc (inherited) with a rather large video card and a real mother of a fan that howls but I just became used to it.

    Help/suggestion soldering flex cable

Had a mate who used to mod PS2...........until one of the later models came out where the manufacturers were a wake up to what was going on. One touch with the iron in his normal mod point and 6 legs of the micro popped-up. When I saw him he was on day two of just trying to pin them back down...

    making a tiny heat element

We used to use nichrome wire in small lengths (from 40 to 100mm) mounted to wooden blocks with two tabs hanging out. The wire was a gauge that would hold it's section while in use. To this we would connect aligator clips ( as there were several profiles) connect via variable power supply (in our...

Dehumidifer - Does not Power On. Faulty Power Supply Board.

Are you familiar with a multimeter as it seems not from some of you answers. I originally said many measurements can be made without power connected and especially for a safety reason. If you are poking around the P1N1 region and the FUSE with power on these are high voltage areas. As for P4-N...

Question about dependence of current in a circuit.

Motors regulate current drawn by back emf. Overloading a motor can cause it to draw excessive current and burnt out.

Some questions for my Container Overheat Indicator

ok on the first if you need to reserve contacts for later but in the setup you have you are operating a relay from a set of relay contacts. All seems a bit unnecessary. The LED light...how much current does it draw because that is the deciding factor.

Some questions for my Container Overheat Indicator

Should be ok...but just wondering why you don't use the set of n/o contacts 6 and 7 in the controller? (or the 3 and 4 you already have) They (6&7) are marked AL (alarm I assume) so should close on high temp which is what you are doing with your setup now. They look to be dead contacts so you...
