Is it possible to limit current with constant voltage?

    I understood the analogy...good one. o_O

    Maximum current?

According to SAA wiring, and it was cross section area I was referring to, 1.5sq mm carries 15amp. Although , as I also said, the value is not linear. 600 sq mm is around 700 amps. If you have corrosion then it will be a setback as current flows in the first few microns of the surface of the...

programmable cdi, looking for a good project or kit

Worked on a CDI system with others and it may be of some interest to you. It was for single cylinder model aircraft engines and used it's own oscillator for HV but you could change the HV section to whatever you want as most bikes have a HV generator coil built in. It used the 12F683 and all...

    Maximum current?

1/2 metre wide * 3mm = 1500 sq mm ........ probably close to 1000 amps conservatively based on the fact that 600mm2 will handle about 700 amps. One thing about cable sizes and current rating though, it's not linear as size of conductor increases. By the way, that's some copper plate..!!o_O

Using a Varistor to solve a back EMF problem

Assuming your 24v is DC, you will have problems using AC relays or whatever. Simply put, they are not suited to the arcing that dc loads produce, especially inductive loads such as motors, as the contacts do not switch quickly enough. Design of the contacts and arc barriers are different also in...

    IGBT ignition coil driver

Try a 100R and a 5V6 zener to ground on your 5v supply to chip and hall effect. Also a 0.01uf on the supply terminals of the hall effect right on the base of the device.

    Help identifying blown component

Difficult to say what all the electronics do in there as the motor is just a standard synchronous motor as used in most frig/freezers. A bit hard to see as some of the board is not in the photo. Normally the coil on the motor connects directly to supply.

What can I do with this motor?

Plenty of info about on the web using an old car alternator. Safe enough , low voltage, 3 phase and cheap from wrecking yard if you get an old model say 40 or 50 amp. You need to run them up at a couple of thousand rpm to get much out of them but as I said, check on the web.

What can I do with this motor?

Looks like a standard split phase induction motor . Won't work as a generator.

Problem with the monostable is the dwell is the same regardless of what the revs are.

    Old tractor ignition upgrade problem

I built a similar system here for use on model engines. Problem was as you outlined. Another aspect was I needed to install several magnets directly behind eachother to get enough dwell time. Went to CDI after that.

How to power an LED, NEED CLARITY.

It's not a good practice to use a system as you have done here. Either select a lower voltage battery preferrably closer to the lED value. If that 16volts is required in some other section of a circuit then regulate down to what is required for your LED. Linear reglators waste power and heat so...
