Please bear with me with another basic question
I want to supply 24 to 27v DC to a DC motor (not PM)
speed is important as it drives a generator

123v AC line to 24v CT transformer
28V from transformer

28v to full wave rectifier 27v out from rectifier

27v to DC motor

but suddenly the voltage jumps to 37 DC
and 40v DC with smoothing capacitor

I wonder if someone could tell me how to get 27v DC
from a circuit...Thanks much...colum:confused:

You could use a voltage regulator.

However if you're driving a motor I wonder why PWM isn't acceptable.

Thanks Steve but getting parts for a PWM or any other driver for a 6 amp motor is getting complicated however I did manage to do it with transformers except for the voltage jump and I can not figure out how to solve that.
I did variac the AC volts going to the 24v transformer to show 27v DC at the output but the variac had to be at 86v AC and thats stretching it.
There must be a way to stop the feedback (if thats what it is) from the DC windings back into the input.
I appreciate all of the help I'm getting ...colum
