I have a broken USB port on my Dell WD19TB docking station. Surprisingly, I have been unable to locate a replacement component. Most of the ones I have found have a fringe around the USB ports and I am not sure if that will be an issue with it physically fitting or not. I have found some that did not have the fringe, but looking at the data sheets, the dimensions might not fit. Also, those are from Alibaba manufacturers, which can be unreliable and frustrating to deal with. Additionally, getting one of the same USB standard can be an issue.

I honestly didn't expect it to be this difficult. I've looked at Mouser, Digikey, Newark, etc., looked at several parts search places, contacted Dell, Googled for hours. I tried most of the suggestions in the "Before you ask" post before I even came here, but tried some more. The part has S201509 stamped on it but that hasn't helped me. I am trying to find the exact part and manufacturer used only because I am concerned about it physically fitting as well as the USB spec being wrong and causing some unforeseen problem.

I'm still unable to find this. I've been looking at alternatives and most don't seem to fit the dimensions.

They are both female. Something has happened to the top port and the blue plastic is gone. Likely as Bertus mentioned. It has melted or broken away.

That is a simple two port female USB connector. Most female connectors have that "lip" you are talking about to aid in the insertion of the male USB plug. Are you having a problem fitting a new connector in the space provided, or will the lip interfere with that? The item Bertus suggested is the likely replacement for what you have in there, but you do need to find out why the other one failed before you go and replace it.

Take a picture of the bottom side of the circuit board, so we can see how the original one is mounted.

You didn't provide any usable dimensions so how would we know.
They're for the most part, a standard size so I would be surprised if it did not fit. Don't know where you obtained dimensions off the quoted site anyhow.
Good luck.

I did provide dimensions. I realize they are a standard size but this one if different, which is why I have not been able to find it.

....................question still remains, how do you now the ones I referenced are NOT the standard used.

Anyhow, just nip the ends off a couple of usb extension leads and let them hang out the back.

It's shorter, the wrong number of pins, and the wrong color.

You'll find the pcb is for either/or.
There's only four pins to each socket afterall.
The wrong colour....well I never.
Still don't know how you know it is shorter if indeed it is.

I think I am seeing the problem now, after requesting and seeing the bottom of the board. Both USB ports are attached to the PCB with separate through hole pins. I am guessing this has been done to allow for a lot more data transfer through each port. The entire socket connection on the original commenter's board is longer than standard, to accommodate the additional set of pins. USB Type A Superspeed, I think it is, and it has more than four pins and as the original commenter has mentioned, the color of the plastic for this type of connection is typically blue.

Have you tried to remove the original from the PCB yet? If not, I can understand why not, since I am guessing the one port is still functional.

I measured and I looked at the specs and it's shorter. I don't care about the color per say but the color indicates the USB specification. Even if it might work, I'd rather not change it and potentially cause an issue in the future because I forgot it doesn't follow the standard.
