New Home -BHS-2000D- 1998 install

Hi. Interested in some direction/first steps/FAQ assistance.

Just moved into a house with a Brinks BHS 2000D control panel and two
DCU-602 keypads. Keypad display says "System not ready. Call 1-800..".

The house is really wired up with motion/door/window sensors and I'd
like to get this system running. (Plus we have a newly mobile toddler
that just learned how to open doors!)

I'm not interested in paying a monthly monitoring fee nor paying a
Brinks tech to come out and plug in a few numbers on the panel for
$400. Just interested in real basic sensor activated alarming.

Where do you recomend I start? I've read that one could just replace
the console with something else. I'm open to that, but would all the
sensors and the two display's need replaced too? How standard and
interoperable are consoles/ sensors/ displays/ wiring?
Any help would be great!

Thanks
James

You will have to replace the entire system. Brinks systems are not keypad
programmable. The good part is that you get to reuse all the wiring &
contacts, which are 100% compatible with most systems out there.

I would go with a Vista20P with 6160 or 6139 alpha keypads

10's are no longer made, unless he picks one up on ebay.

Jim Rojas

10's easier for a beginner to program than a 20, doncha think?

I think Ademco stopped manufacturing them last year. But I am sure there are
a few missle silos in Nevada somewhere loaded with overruns... :)

Jim Rojas

huh? I just installed one a couple of weeks ago.

I may be mistaken.

I just bought (today) a 10SE - and according to my ADI guy he knows nothing
of it being discontinued.

discontinued.

At a meeting earlier this year with the ADI branch manager, Ademco regional
sales rep and the (gorgeous) inside sales girl from Louisville I learned
that they plan to drop the SE and PS versions in favor of the P. The
Vista-20P will be made compatible with the 6270 touch-screen keypads,
obviating the Vista-20PS. That's why I only offer special pricing on the P
series kits. The others will be phased out.

There was no mention of dropping the Vista-10 entirely. I assume it will
continue, probably as a Vista-10P, but we didn't discuss that panel so I'm
not sure.

The 15P/20P is already compatible with the 6270 with the v3 panels

You forgot the MT, WT, BAY etc suffix

I wish they'd drop this alpha suffix thing and just make new model numbers
if they're gonna change stuff....P, PS, E, E2 sheesh.

The point of the change, as I understood it, is to do away with all the
suffixes except P.

That is not what you wrote, dickweed. You wrote "The
Vista-20P will be made compatible with the 6270 touch-screen keypads, "

You are such a jerk. All you wanted to do was get your advert in. You know
nothing about Ademco.

Why do you find it necessary to rudely interject?

Be patient with Cracker. He's doing the best he can. Unfortunately, his
best leaves somewhat to be desired. :^)

Not to break up further fribbless dribble, but I chuckle every time I hear
that. Cracker. I was waiting to eat at an Outback a few weeks ago when I
heard this teenage white kid, and another teenage black kid verbally
throwing down on each other (what else is new) when I heard the black kid
call the white kid....not cracker....but Pocket. Me and my buddy looked at
each other and said "Pocket?!?"....then it dawned on me, most pants pockets
are white...
Hope this new information on getto slang is helpful....it sucks getting
older...
Later Pockets

It's a double entendre. He's a racist whose first name is Graham. :^)

Pocket? I wonder if the white kid realized what the other fellow meant.

I know...I do remember using that reference of Graham in the past...

I'll assume he did. Me and my buddy had this discussion aloud, and the black
kids turned to us laughed, and said "you got it!". They said that after I
referenced pulling out my pockets to show my buddy. It was a good laugh. Had
we been 20 years younger....it might have went a little different.

Thanks for asking. Your pal Fat-Ass finds it necessary to interject incorrect
information, and get his URL posted. I find his blatant advertising SPAM and
against the group's FAQ (which you admit to never reading). I was also pointing
out an error he made. You may not like the tone in which I did so, but since
you have no background about why I did you really are the one rudely
interjecting, aren't you?

Yes of course.

And I don't have any fat-ass pals...so just put me on Ignore please.

I only ignore Paul. I have nothing against you.
And I don't give a shit about 'backgrounds' of either you, or RLB, or anyone else here

Well that's part of the problem. Every so often some newbie strolls in here and
perceives the 'problem' as everyone else except Bass. Remember how nice it was
when you came in and Bass was noticeably absent? Everyone got along just fine.
- it's what I see *now* that I react to...so sod off dood.

That's why I told you in another thread "you ain't seen nothin' yet". Bass will
try extra hard to stay on your good side because Lord knows he doesn't need more
enemies. But you wait....
