Hi folks,
First time poster here. I’m trying to get my original Killer Instinct arcade to boot up, and found a missing prong/pin which needs to ultimately connect to the flash drive.

Instead of shipping the entire board to a repair shop (and spend a lot of money in delicate shipping and fees), I was wondering if I can fix myself.

Does anybody have recommendations on how to remediate? I was thinking about stuffing some wire into the flash drive female home where this phantom should connect into, then hope when I plug in the flash drive, the wire would connect to the motherboard base and maybe boot up.

But before doing that, I’d love some advice and potentially avoid making matters worse.

Thanks

Just fit a new pin.
Looks like a standard 2.5mm pitch header

Chances are there is no pin missing at all. Note the little arrow next to the "missing" pin?

This looks like an indicator.

The connector as seen in your 1st image is symmetrical and could be inserted in the wrong way (180 ° rotated). Your image is not really sharp but check for an insert in one of the middle holes of the connector - where the indicator points at when the connector is plugged in. The insert would prevent to plug the connector onto the pin header in the wrong orientation as the connector will fit only with the plugged hole over the "missing" pin.

Thanks! You were correct, there is not a pin supposed to be there.

I sent the KI PCB to Arcade Services in Indiana and he said my board worked fine!

Long story short, my power supply wasn’t properly tuned and now it boots up just fine.

But now I have a new problem which is super noonish…

None of the buttons/joystick works, and I believe it’s because I cannot find the J7 15 pin connector to the PCB. It freakin vanished!
