the simulation black box with this circuit it take 2 mins to load and only shows 90ms, this black box!! simulating other circuits works fine!! it does it wherever you put the probe too1702295456445.png1702295286849.png

O.K., so you mean the plot window showing the simulation results. Be aware that the simulator does not work in real time. Simulating a few milliseconds of real time can take seconds or minutes, depending on the complexity of the circuit. You need to be patient or try one of the fixes I linked to.

yes ok so I took out the lm3914 and it's working properly again - beautiful so I have determined that there is a problem with the lm3914 circuit!! just removing the cascaded LM3914's and their circuitry set it back to normal!! 1702296019129.png

so I made the LM3914 circuit and added it again and its gone back to how it was only showing 90ms worth

what is wrong!!!!???????? the program doesn't seem to like the LM3914 or the LM3915 chips, why only 90ms!!! this is becoming a big problem! It's like it has a time limit that I can't seem to change!!

You solved it yourself: remove the LM3914.
There is no need to simulate this chip. All you need is the output voltage of the envelope detector and check it against the input specifications of the LM3914.
The LM3914 (or LM3915) is a fairly complex circuit and this is probably the reason the simulator stalls.

the envelope detector is showing this really thick line (it was thin before) can you help fix it1702315041231.png

I took out the rariable resistor on the pre-amp and put a direct wire in its place this minimizes the gain I think but it still tops out at 9v which is larger than the desired 8.4v and havn't sussed the envelope detector yet! fixed it with a change of schottky diode!

I'm going through the different schottky diodes RB706F 40 is by far the best so far

how do I change the pre-amp so it give about 0.5 of a volt less then it will work safely with the LM3914?

Hello,

Keep in mind that the output of a mic can be much smaller.
For the mic you probably need the gain.
The output of the mic will likely be in the range of 10 - 20 mV.
Read the following page for more info:
Scale the 45 Hz file for lower intensity.

Hello again! ok is it possible to make a low scale audio file in audacity? did you manage to download the LM3914 to your library and how did it go for you I have a ryzen 5000 5 does it run on yours??

Hello,

In Audacity you have the function amplify in effects.
With that you can make signals higher (+dB) and lower (-dB).
You could also use a resistor divider at the 45 Hz source on the input.

ok this I can do,
You could also use a resistor divider at the 45 Hz source on the input.
so how do you adjust the voltage divider so that its in the 10 to 20 millivolt range (after the preamp but before the amp)
