I am looking to do my first electronics project. As a product engineer that mainly deals with plastics just about anything for electronics is new to me so I hope you can bear with my ignorance.

My goal is to create a a wireless controlled stepper motor. This is the only function I need the "unit" to achieve. The ability to Go to a desired position and hold that position once a button on a wireless remote is pressed. Then it will release back to the natural resting position once another button is pressed.

So far I'm trying to sort out a few things that I think may be key.

What kind of stepper motor do I use, a unipolar or bipolar motor?
From what I have read this far unipolar are typically easier to use and cheaper. I don't honestly know much more than that yet.

What kind of driver I should use?
I was looking at a raspberry pi which is then attached to a stepper motor driver. At least this is what a lot of people seem to be doing but I have to ask. If you have the motor driver why do I need the raspberry pi? Perhaps it is the best way to use a remote function?

How should I use remote operation?
I have no idea where to even start here.

I know this is asking for a lot but any help leading me to the right direction will be appreciated and then hopefully i should be able to figure out the rest on my own.

Thanks in advance
