Symptoms :

White flickering picture and sparks from under the flyback nap
on the tube.

Repair :

After opening the set and removing the circuit board, i found 2
wires jumpered on the underside of the flyback.
A third trace was recently burned out.
I assumed a bad flyback and installed a new one, model 1852.5003
Over the broken traces i soldered pieces of wire.
After adjusting the focus and screen, i have a bright and crisp picture.

Can i expect this to last, or is there another reason for the traces to
burn?
The replacement flyback is a genuine replacement part.

Common problem on those sets.
I'm surprised that you had to replace the flyback.
Usually it's enough to solder wires to fix this.

Well, the nap was sparking, and for the price of the flyback, i didn't
wanted to take the risk and decided to use a new one.
I still look for a decent flyback tester, i'm pretty sure this
one had shorted turns.
