help with monostable multivibrator

Recommended Posts

First let me explain what I am building the problem that I am having.

I'm building a sequencer.. in simplest terms it turns of a series 10 LEDs one after the other.

I however need each LED to only emit briefly then after a puase of no emssion go to the next LED.

I'm using a 555 and a 4017 to sequence..

To visualize the signals from the 4017 each leg outputs a pulse.

The problem is that I need to merge all these into one path to trigger a relay but when you do the adjacent pulses become one single pulse. FYI there are switches to turn optionally turn off some pulses.

The merged pulses become one continuous high signal

I thought that I could add to each signal a monostable multivibrator such as the NTE74123 that would take the incoming trigger and regardless of it's length create a shorter pulse.

However I have not found any clear schematics that use a multivibrator and I cannot get the one I have to work as expected.

Any tips, links or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Adrian
