audioguru Posted August 16, 2005 Report Share Posted August 16, 2005 I wouldn't re-use a cap without a label because you won't know its voltage rating.If it is defective and needs replacement then testing it will probably give a false reading. You might find it with a search. Guest Alun Posted August 16, 2005 Report Share Posted August 16, 2005 What sort of capacitor is it?Electrolytic?Ceramic disc?Tantalum?Tantalums and electrolytics are polarised and will be even more of a problem if the polarity markink has worn off in which cas I'd dispose of it.Do you have an oscillossope or frequency counter?You could build an astable 555 timer oscillator with a known value resistor then measure the frequency of the output, and work out the capacitor value from the 555 frequency formula. ECET0purdue Posted August 16, 2005 Author Report Share Posted August 16, 2005 they are all electrlytics well at least 90% just they all were separate then it got knocked over so now i have like 50 different caps all together while some have the value on them and others dont.
