speedpunk Posted August 27, 2006 Report Posted August 27, 2006 Hey everyone, Im new and was wondering if someone could answer a question i have about 555CN Timer IC's. Would this be what i would use to set a time on an LED, for instance having it turn on and off, What does a 555CN Timer IC do?Thanks For the help guys. And I apologize for my newbniss Quote
allvol Posted August 27, 2006 Report Posted August 27, 2006 Generally, the 555 timer IC is not used for long-duration time events, but is, as you say, useful for turning things off and on, and is also used to provide a fairly reliable clock pulse.Go to " 555 timer " on any search engine and you'll find all the information you need to use this little device. prateeksikka Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 it has nothing but an RC (charging discharging circuit ) inside Quote
audioguru Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 it has nothing but an RC (charging discharging circuit ) insideIt has a lot more than that! Two voltage comparators, a flip-flop and a high-current output stage. Its schematic shows 28 transistors and 12 resistors but it could have more. Quote
jgeidl Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 You might take a look at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Bill_Bowden/he has a lot of circuits and a good tutorial on 555 timers.Jim Quote
lemuel_newboy Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 not sure... but i use it, just like how you say it, in setting grnd and vcc alternatingly to a led. i typically use this with a JK flipflop... Quote
