do I need to unlock boxes to see the formula?
No. Just click on a Value cell (e.g. D14) and its formula shows in the Formula bar above the column headings.
If you need to edit a formula directly then you have to remove the cell protection.

okay thats cool so how do you do anything special to make a formula box doesn't it go flashing or something I remember you press = and it goes flashing
I now REALLY appreciate what you done, damn that is alot work but I think I get it now thanks I don't even know where to start with the one I provided
and by the way this was never supposed to be a chore I'm going to put some time into that spreadsheet I'm sure I can do it too

That should help.
Btw, you realise that if lever 2 has a fixed length then the weight will fall in an arc, not vertically? Alternatively if you want the weight to rise and fall vertically (which the maths to date has assumed) then either lever 2 length has to vary or else the flywheel and gearing will have to move horizontally.
Either way, the torque exerted on lever 2 by the falling weight is not constant, so neither will be the forces or torques acting on the gears as your spreadsheet apparently assumes.

yeah thought of that too crude drawing but simple enough to implement this way the effective lever arm stays the same and so constant torque! the bar is allowed to slip through the jig hope you get the idea
ingenious right :)

The radius (the effective lever length) with that arrangement isn't constant, but fortunately as the weight falls its resolved component at right angles to the lever (which is what produces the torque) varies to compensate, so torque is constant.

yes I know!! its about effective lever arm (not radius you're correct) and the vector component of the force acting perpendicular to the axis of rotation therefore as I said the torque is constant in this configuration but you explained it well, so are we on the same page?

hey up Delta Prime matey looked up quixote he's a cool author for his books to still be read, although I don't see the connexion between the scissor and windmill, but it's food for thought!

Do your 12 squid have to be alive or dead for payment, I never heard of that.
Okie dokie,Don Quixote; rhymes!
That's the only reason why I said it, I should have been a gangster rapper.
But I don't know Ebonics.

quid means pound sterling I think the man explaining in the spreadsheet series of video is one of those that uses and is fluent in ebonics !

Your just trying to make me jealous,..
& it worked,
But I still have to believe that you guys do not carry around pounds of Sterling silver with you, I don't think they make pant pockets that big or strong enough.

I think you mean trouser pockets
still don't know what the scissor has to do with windmills
