Alternative to a bad tachometer filter?

Maybe not the correct frequency block. From memory the alternator type are rather large, perhaps 3uF whereas ignition for radios are around 1uF or less. Circuit above uses 2 x 8n2 probably ceramic type also.

Gale 3090 Subwoofer repairable? Burning smell on circuit board - speaker is fine ( I think )

From current view, it looks really sick. Can only imagine the underside view and amount of work involved. Might be time for a new unit.

Steinberg UR44 Audio Interface No Power

Quite a complex piece of equipment for a beginner to even consider "fixing". Thermal camera images are rarely (if ever) used to diagnose pcb problems. Could be a dry joint somewhere in the area you point to but one needs to have considerable skills just to inspect and reflow those joints on...

    Wall Wart voltages.

Arduino (and any microcontroller) will require fairly precise voltages. There are exceptions in that the range can be from around 2.5 to 5.5v but it is not considered the norm as other details must then be considered. Standard Arduino would be 3.3v or 5v however there too it depends. By feeding...

How to safely short the leads of a DC motor together with no power is applied.

Only if the worm angle is above a certain angle......anything below this "critical angle" and it WILL drive backwards. As for a shorting relay, could use a starter solenoid which has 2 connections to the coil.

How to safely short the leads of a DC motor together with no power is applied.

Would work much more reliably using a mechanical one way clutch. Dynamic brake requires motor to be spinning and is commonly applied during rundown time, not as a brake to stop the motor turning in reverse.

    volt/amp meter how to connect

In defence of the unit, you need power to the display to make it work so by turning your variable down lower than 4.0v it simply will not work as a "one supply unit". Nothing to do with the design being crap.

    volt/amp meter how to connect

From your supplied drawings....... if you intend to drive the output from zero volts up to 16 volts, you will need and independant supply to power the display unit. Then connect everything as in the lower diagram.

    Simple 555 Timer

This is the part that concerns me........... Not a good idea by any means and more likely than not, violates any building code. Be prepared to face a grilling and other consequences if it ever goes belly up and electrocutes someone. My advice would be to strongly suggest you forget it and buy...

    Simple 555 Timer

You power the 555 on it will time out first up and do whatever it is supposed to do. There are ways around this but not in your diagram. Check out some details on how 555 timers work. https://www.talkingelectronics.com/te_interactive_index.html ........... go down the page to 555 timers.

    LED Wiring Help

LEDs are like anything else and may detoriate over time.(most likely will) Suggest you build it so the strip can be replaced. Other than that, for power, one could get a 5v plugpack and add a 3v converter to suit. They cost next to nothing and should provide sufficient current drive given the...
