12 / 24 or 48v to 400V Boost Converter to charge electric car from solar panels

No problem paralleling mosfets as they do not have the same parallelling problems as transistors which need ballast resistors. So to summarise, simply add more mosfets in parallel.

    LM338 Voltage and Power Questions

With reference to the supplied diagrams and assuming they are the correct type. If one looks at it in this manner, ......with one primary winding only connected to 110v, output would be 1/2. So 2 primaries connected in series would be a further 1/2, so to answer your query..... 1/4. But it all...

    LM338 Voltage and Power Questions

Transformers are 1:1 devices as far as VA is concerned. If you want to get technical ( really unnecessary) it's power out is equal to power in , less any losses. Transformer losses are in this instance, negligible and of zero concern.

    Help with sliding door automation

Rather confusing when a sliding door turns into a commercially made rolla-door but anyhow....... Garage doors usually come with a "manual button" that can be installed say, at the other end of the garage. This switch is a momentary contact switch. So, push the button when the door is closed...

Trying to match an old terminal block

I've used these Ebay type many times and found them to be rather good quality considering "made in China".

    LM338 Voltage and Power Questions

Transformers are fairly robust devices and series running of the primaries will do no harm. For 20 odd years I have used a 40VA on a dimmer (normally considered a no-no) for foam cutting with a range of tools which require both end of the available power output. Output reflects the input (along...

    LM338 Voltage and Power Questions

Trying to decipher just what you are running from this supply. Is it just 2 locos or is there other aux equipment driven from the same output? Possible for you to provide a sketch of the circuit involved including any existing equipment that will be reused. When you say "variable supply" I...

    Cheap relay switch

There are smoke alarms available for hearing impaired with inbuilt bluetooth to drive pillow vibrators and flashing lights. There are also ready made units which will interface with certain smoke alarms to drive egress systems for hostels and the like. The interconnect (alarm) is associated...

    Help with sliding door automation

Might work ok but rather expensive and you will have to add a relay on the output to your motor. Reason being motors draw 4 to 6 times full load at startup which will more than likely fry your new sensor. Most simply use a wireless relay with a remote for maybe AUS$15 to $20. Another...

Crosswalk project using 2 555 timers and can only be analog

Talkingelectronics website has a list of circuits to get you started learning. I believe there is also a free download book on 555 timers. http://www.talkingelectronics.com/te_interactive_index.html Scroll down the left hand side.

Trying to match an old terminal block

These are 15A 600V and are available in many different terminal count. 30A shown below that. Ebay........https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-12-Position-Terminal-barrier-Strip-Block-30A-600V-58C-ay/180945366591?hash=item2a212f2e3f:g:4R8AAOSwlptZ5aiA

Repair / fit USB socket to PCB

Good luck with that. Most of these are not intended for repair and the solder used is difficult to modify. That plus many components land on the ground tracks which dissipate heat at a rate greater than your 2 bob soldering iron will keep up with.

Trying to match an old terminal block

I would not be considering using that particular strip anytime soon on mains level voltages. An important factor in a terminal stip is it's insulation properties and that old piece looks to be bakolite impregnated with dust and rust and general crud making it unusable. The rust factor would make...

Neither...both are maximum ratings of the diode.

Trying to match an old terminal block

You will find terminal strips are "sized" by their current rating rather than how long they might be. Current rating directly affects the size of the tunnels etc. As already stated, show a photo and perhaps some reference size such as a ruler close by the tunnels.

    Bistable Multivibrator

How far is it from your switching position/ positions to the compressor location? It is quite feasible that one of the single channel wireless relay units would suffice. They can be set as toggle or on-off with button press and have a relay output that would interface with your compressor...
