Seeking help with 12v dc motor controller on golf buggy

Actually the opposite. Desoldering close pins of Q3 is easier because you can heat all three at once. The relay will be harder unless you are able to remove most of the solder. I recommend using a braided desoldering wick.

I would pull pull and check cf07 and cf09. They feed the opamp inputs and might be effecting when the amp switches on. Great point @73's de Edd about using metal film resistors. I was looking to see if there was a key to explain what that "!" symbol means. The voltage rating of cf11 is 25v. I...

    Power shutoffs

When utility co turns off power, the lines are isolated and your electric meter shouldn't register any current flow. You are then off grid, but you still have your solar system in operation to supply your house. Do you mean tapping off your e-cars battery to supply power to your house? You...

Hey, great progress! I don't think R21 would cause those problems. More than likely a transistor. Does the volume transition quiet to loud fairly evenly (linearly) and then jump up in volume only at the spot at the extreme top position? This could be a bad pot. If accessible, I would just...

Sorry, I wouldn't power it up yet. It's hard to follow blurry on my phone screen. I think your voltage measurements are out of kilter in part because of the open resistor. It's possible that cap could be failing because of wrong polarity, rather than overcurrent from a short. 47k would not...

If you look at the node on the left (neg) side of your bad cap (cf11) you see it connects to pairs of 47k resistors feeding the base of transistors. I'd try pulling them out to try and isolate a short circuit. As Edd said, probably one of the transistors is shorted. Once resistors are out...

Hang on. I wouldn't change any values. The parts listed in the manual doesn't match what you have. Notice RF01 and RF02 are 33kΩ and manual says 22kΩ? This thing was working for years the way it was and you shouldn't have to alter it. Try reading resistance values again with your meter in the...

Seeking help with 12v dc motor controller on golf buggy

I looks fried from here. Anyway, if your don't read continuity between any pins, there's a problem. Heres a relay that should work. The coil resistance is slightly higher at 360Ω, but I don't think it a problem...

Seeking help with 12v dc motor controller on golf buggy

Welcome onedog, I didn't see your relay pdf but that would be a big help tracking down a replacement. You might have to try a electronic supplier like digikey or mouser and try and compare terminal spacing of a similar 10a 12v relay. That collar is likely a ferite coil to sense current on the...

Need help for value of resistor

Ok, I was thinking a voltage spike could happen before the diode switches on to do its job of snubbing it. I think I got a better understanding. The induced voltage across the inductor never gets the chance to rise (spike) because the instant current flows back through diode and into the...

Need help for value of resistor

Thanks, that helps my understand. The statement "it only sees the same voltage applied" threw me. A higher voltage potential is there but it's quickly shunted (low resistance)once the diode conducts.
