Type of single phase AC motor?

I’d say it’s a magnetic drive pump by your description. I would be surprised if you could control it via a light dimmer. Have you checked it’s current to calculate its wattage?. Dimmers have a minimum load requirement. Martin

No sound from Panasonic rx-ed50 boombox

Did it work properly before you put the lithium battery in?. Two easy things to check initially. Are the speakers ok? And are the connector/s from the PCB to the speakers inserted correctly?. EDIT. Does the sound work with headphones? Martin

Tacx T2240 turbo trainer - blown resistor

May be not missing, rather it wasn’t populated. Do you see evidence of component removal? ie flux or solder residue?. Quite common for many reasons, usually features etc not present on that units model number or revision. Martin

How would you go about testing this port without its adapter?

My crystal ball says that the OP has various DC barrel connectors for the variable power supply, but not for the pictured item. Martin

How would you go about testing this port without its adapter?

Only option for testing without the correct connector is to open the unit and connect direct to the wires. Martin

    buck boost circuit

The 7805 is a 5 volt regulator. The 12V is the input voltage to the 7805 voltage regulator. That is where the 5V comes from. Martin

How do you store your test leads?

Good idea to put your leads on a bracket rather than flat on the wall taking up space. That beige meter by the blue components bin with drawers looks remarkably like my first meter as a kid. Got it from Radio shack (Tandy). Martin

I want to design a single led to be powered by 4 garden-sized solar cells

Has the battery got a cut off circuit?. If not, you risk damaging the battery if you discharge it below approximately 3V. So don’t wait until the LEDs start dimming. Martin

dvd's and cd's as capacitor plates

A capacitor cannot replace a battery. They are different types of storage. The capacitor discharges rapidly and stores energy physically. The battery discharges relatively slowly and stores energy chemically. Supercapacitors are a bit of both. Wow, 640kg for 1 farad. That’s a huge size for a...

Energy Monitor Killed Using Wrong Charger

Although true, most designers do have a label with either the “ only use with” or the voltage plus maximum Ampere per unit. The OP agreed to being stupid and wrongly used a different adapter. Short story, always check the voltage, polarity and the amperage. Don’t use a 1A iPhone charger to for...

Energy Monitor Killed Using Wrong Charger

I couldn’t agree more. Most of us (me) have iec connectors with 1A, 5A, 13A plug fuses. That will dictate its use. Others have the 5V USB cable that will power anything of 5V. BUT only .5mA or .750mA or 2A. Big difference. Martin

Energy Monitor Killed Using Wrong Charger

Happens all the time. That’s why designers normally put a label (in yellow) saying “only use for this unit”. Also, the designer doesn’t know how stupid the user is!. Just because something fits in a hole, doesn’t mean it belongs there. She or he or it could be married! Martin

    sensormatic amb-2011 power cord pinout?

Hi, does it have RJ45 on both ends?. These would normally mirror each other. Not always of course. You could open the device and check what voltage goes to the pins with a multimeter. Martin
