    It could be even simpler. Just because you have new batteries doesn’t mean the contacts are good. Check them for any corrosion from old leaky batteries. Martin

    It will depend on the LED. Typical red, 2v, 20mA. So forward voltage of LED is ‘say’ 2v. 9-2=7. Lol @berus beat me

    If you are not ‘stomping’, then any latching switch will work. Simply put the switch in series with the battery positive lead. OFF disconnects the battery. Put the LED and current limiting resistor after the switch and to GND (negative).

    Please try what was advised by @Harald Kapp . Disconnect each and every item. Not just turn off at ‘distributor’. The EARTH is not switched. Only LIVE and NEUTRAL are. Unplug them as suggested and try again. Martin

    A key that translates? Into French? Yes there is. Called reference designators or refdes for short. R is resistor C is capacitor D is diode. The numbers after the letter help find an individual component. imagine having 500 resistors on one PCB. R1, R2, R3............R99 etc. Martin
