Understanding a regulator circuit with MOSFET and Zener-Diode

I for TWO enjoyed it TOO. TO read old or new threads with math involved helps me heaps.. My ‘discombobulation’ will one day drop the ‘dis’ to ‘bobulation’. I spend hours reading old posts while commuting on the train. Martin

New project - 1967 oscilloscope restoration

It must be, 1967 was a great year! That scope must be 52 years old..:D

    another oven transformer question/problem

Hi draylen19, looks like the transformer is 12VA, 6V+6V. It may have 2 primary inputs of 120V+120V. You can (or it is) Primaries in parallel for 120V or in series for 240V. Also 2 Secondaries as two 6V in parallel or 12V in series. Martin

Need Guidance (not-spoon-feeding) on self-Learning Embedded System development to get a Job

Hi mack38. Given your expertise in C, C++ etc, getting a job should be a pinch. Now, I have zero knowledge of programming but just bought some PICkit programmers to study myself. But looking into the future of electronics, robotics, automation and anything ‘smart’ come to mind. But you...

Panasonic Dect phone low emf option

Oops, never answered the op’s question. Not sure I can.. Anybody asking about EMF is ‘ghost hunting’. We have special places for that. However, you must be talking about a transformer? Or a train set?

Panasonic Dect phone low emf option

On the dect phones in the UK there is no option. They either work or don’t. In my experience. Martin

    Audio Marantz PM500

Could be a mis-print, can’t see the schematic atm. Either way, it once worked. You seem to have narrowed it down to the EQ board. So, all works except a ‘fader’ distorts the audio?. This happens on the LEFT channel only?. I read earlier about a ‘hiss’ noise. Was it hiss or hum?. And this noise...

    Audio Marantz PM500

ESR/component testers on Ebay for £4.00. I bought one months ago to test it. It actually works pretty well. I don’t use it often as I have an ESR meter. Might be worth buying one on this occasion. Have you checked if there is DC on the amp speaker outputs?. It should be minimal in the...

    Basic Pulse generation help

That is correct. Flat side facing you and legs pointing at the floor. Flat side down? Would depend on leg direction. Flat side down and legs pointing to the floor, then yes. Martin

    Audio Marantz PM500

Hehe, try the teenager ‘Mosquito’ test signal. 15kHz I think. Shopping malls played this frequency to stop loitering teenagers. It works. My boys complain about my battery chargers squeeling. I hear nothing. Anyway, good thread and good read. Martin

    Aiwa AMD006 volume control

Hi Stomer, There seems to be many complaints about this particular unit and volume. All say the volume is quite loud on lowest setting plus the volume defaults to half volume when changing source inputs. Must be a known issue with this model. I’ll wait for others to chime in here. Martin

Need help to identifi a fuse that does not state its size

Hi caryallenmartin, The fuse rating will be on one of the fuse end caps. You may need a magnifier to see it clearly. Or you may have to remove it from the pcb in order to view it. The component you point to is a transistor. There seems to be some discolouration of the pcb next to it. It is...

    Broken LED grow light help

You can clearly see a faulty LED in the photo. Theses units are typically wired in series and the series circuits are connected in parallel. This is why a blown LED causes others on the same series circuit to not come on. Martin

    Two unrelated questions

Now why didn’t I think about that!.. My RC helicopters (Heim, Hirobo & Kyosho) all have fuselage windows. Albeit smoked and dark in colour. But certainly worth a try. My main two shops have closed down, so a little research on my behalf is needed. Thanks @Bluejets . Martin

    Two unrelated questions

Yes, thank you Dave. I can find clear. I was looking for red or green. These seem to be a problem without the correct search term. Martin

    Two unrelated questions

Thanks Dave for the info. I can’t get acrylic less than 2mm. I may have these sizes confused because of many phone calls and inadequate notes taken. I can’t even remember all the different plastics!. But acrylic, poly carbonate, vinyl etc were either too thick or paper thin. I just want the...

point me in the right direction

Alternatives? Yes plenty. Viable? Perhaps. FPV that @Bluejets suggested might be a better alternative although these work through a receiver, typically 2.4 Ghz these days. Meaning more hardware. I think you need to hack a digital camcorder or Gopro etc to achieve your goal. The camera you...
