    Interesting...HFT Faux Pas

Sorry bigone5500, tha fios agaibh always lowers the tone!! We are talking "man Tools", mm's and cm's mean a lot.. Clearly, John has a reasonable adjustable!!:p I have a 12 inch and 18 inch King Dick....They work great!!! Martin

Your advice please - Powered speaker blow just resting no music playing ...

OK, snip was wrong lol..Take out of circuit would have been a better way of saying it.... But my Stella Artoi fingers are typing now!!!!! I can fix the world!!! Cheers....John!!

    LED light Lamp COB chip

Apart from what Duke37 said, your booster is maxed at 32V. One LED is 32 to 34 Volt? You are already trying to drive a hard bargain! Martin

Adding "on" light to 240V thermostat

As if!!!!!! The owner probably gets a cut of the electricity used!! Martin

Your advice please - Powered speaker blow just resting no music playing ...

First thing to check if speaker is disconnected is output transistors.. Sometimes you can be brutal and snip the transistor out of circuit and try again.. If the short suddenly disappears and no fuse pops, that's your culprit.. Martin

Adding "on" light to 240V thermostat

If there is no neutral in the box, you can run one! Or run a live from the box to another with the neon and neutral! Again, amperage has nothing to do with what you what to do!!. Martin

    Tilt Angle between two LDR

Zackfair, Your lecturer did not explain to you as in your diagram!! Open loop and closed loop are very different. Without feedback, the op-amp has no idea what you want. Inverting and non invertinting are also different. Depending on the external circuitry, it can simply turn off and on, or...

Adding "on" light to 240V thermostat

As Minder poster above, an ammeter is not important with this. The voltage at the thermostat is! Your ammeter will only be useful if the LED, neon is in series with the circuit.. Martin

Adding "on" light to 240V thermostat

Hello, The simplest is a neon. It will light when the thermostat comes on. No extra circuitry needed. Martin

Fan Header Question: Volts, Amps & Watts Multiplication & Multiple fans...

Hey junkroom, I have been reading this thread and have come to the conclusion that you suffer with Martinsyndrome! Hi, I am Martin and cannot explain myself very well or understand the obvious when it's dished up on a plate either!! Let us laymen chat!!!! The fans are 12v..Right?...original fan...

    Tilt Angle between two LDR

To be honest, I don't know what is meant by 'angle'.. If you can explain that, somebody can help you.. Martin

    Tilt Angle between two LDR

I think I understand, but wait for a "proper answer".... The op-amp is used as a comparator and compares two input voltages. As LDR1 detects more light, the resistance drops and voltage increases to the op-amp. As LDR2 has less light, the resistance rises and voltage drops.. It's the op-amps job...

    Tilt Angle between two LDR

Hi zackfair, Your English is good, but the question is not very clear. Do you mean the angle at which they will turn on? The datasheet for the particular component will give that information.

    Most common failure survey.

Not really John, PS failures can simply refuse to start the circuit. Lightening strike can burn a whole board. Routers are good for burning up in a storm. Surges are normally sorted by mov's or ptc/ntc's. And fuses. But nothing is 100% fool proof. Martin

    Newbie question about transformer inputs

The windings on a transformer can be separate windings or tapped off at certain points. So I can't really say. Only an ohms test would show for sure. The white neutral and black, and neutral and red are the ones to measure. I am sure a more experienced members can put me right and answer your...

    Newbie question about transformer inputs

I would think that the 227v primary that wasn't connected to AC, would get hot because of acting like a large resistor. The input (primary) side has different resistances across each terminal due to the windings. If you disconnect all the primaries, you can check all resistances with a...
