help adapting a transformer to battery external laptop battery charger cable

Hi, if I understand you correctly, you lost your laptop charger. You want to buy one from a thrift store. But you have not seen a charger with the female jack? As long as the charger / adapter you buy has very similar specs to the original it will be fine. Also, make sure the polarity is the...

    Need help locating timing switch

Thanks for clearing that up. Yes it is the same switch.. Swiss made too. So unless other forum members know that switch, you might have to resort to chopping and hacking as suggested earlier. Give it 24 hours or so though. All the best Martin.

    Need help locating timing switch

Firstly. Does your switch have any markings, numbers etc on it?. It is clearly different to the ' generic ' pic you originally posted, (clarkes garage). If this is the case then a replacement may be found. Please try to be more specific with the actual item in question rather than ' Generic '...

    Minimum test equipment

I optest for the cheapest from Maplin. £30. I have to say that I am very impressed so far. It moves quite easily if knocked by accident. A few nylocks can fix that. I would however say that if you wear reading glasses, try to not too o_O. I had a headache after 5 minutes. I now just use it...

    Need help locating timing switch

Here is an example of the plastic section we are talking about... Left top. It is quite easy to shape a piece of plastic/nylon even with a file... Sorry I cannot help you any further. Hopefully somebody else on the forum will recognize your switch. Martin.

    Need help locating timing switch

"That picture is a generic one I found" The switch in that picture I can find no reference to. Sorry. It appears to be 4mm thick and off the shelf are 6mm. Can you confirm this? Is your switch exactly the same as in the pic? You can try and open the swith and replace the plastic/nylon cam...

    Need help locating timing switch

Hi Erich, those sun roof and electric windows also have relays too. Have you actually tested the switch with a meter? If your sun roof opens fine but continues clicking when you close it it's most likely the relay. And vice versa opening. As Steve said. It's a cam activated micro switch that...

Has anyone experienced different colour room lighting, if so which colour did you prefer?

In my youth I frequented many rooms with different colours. Some were a single colour while others had several colours blending together. I think my favourite colour was when I was staring out of the window at the sun. It was a gorgeous orange, I could see the flares too. But then it started...

Very Basic circuit but I am struggling

Yes, microcontrollers do seem to be flooding the market. And very easy to learn for the youngsters who still have sponges for brains. I also agree with you that posting your idea could prompt somebody else on here to possibly simulate it and try it out. I never looked at it that way. Sorry. Martin.

Very Basic circuit but I am struggling

That is a very valid point Bob. But just reading a post can sometimes give an impression. For example. " very basic circuit " . And I quote " also test for possible incorrect short circuits due to bad soldering.". Those kind of posts normally give the game away. But your point is still valid...

    Minimum test equipment

Yes, I did think about second hand, but was put off purely because it would be my first scope. And as I have no experience at all, the warranty is probably worth the extra money to begin with. Once I get some experience behind me with using a scope, a second hand one wouldn't worry me. Thanks...

That's the input voltages they can be powered by. You said ,you are running a 3v 50ma motor. Not that you have fixed 3volts powering a motor.
