    Cooling alternatives for a TEG

Just heated 1 litre of water in a jug. Took 140 seconds for a temperature rise of approx. 80 degrees C with a 2000w heater....if that helps... :)

    Voltage Regulating Circuit Recommendations

12 volt is voltage not voltage current. Low dropout refers to a low difference input to output, not a thing I would imagine you would have a problem with considering you are using solar panels. If you give some indication of where this is headed it might be more helpful.

    capacitors instead of rechargeable batteries

Yes, to a degree, but why would you need to? Capacitors store a charge ( value can be calculated) but they also "leak" the charge over a period of time. The time is dependant on many things. As to how, the cap (usually electrolytic type) is basically connected to a source of dc supply. It will...

    Safety - Make Transformer Safe

Avoid using metal screws ( or any metal components) that protude through to the outer case. Better to use a plastic case as above that has a seperate internal mounting plate. Earth all metal components internally and get a qualified electrician to check before you power it up.

    Aquarium canister water sensor fault

What Kris is saying, is if you start bypassing saftey cut out devices in any equipment there is a potential for disaster.

    Battery Bank

Also in emergency vehicles such as ambulances. I'm fairly certain there are kits out there just for this purpose.

Connecting two single-phase inverters to the same load

:eek:Not really a surprise to me. Worked at the comission here in Aus...had a "so-called" electrical engineer looking around our workshop for 3 * single phase generators. Wanted to drive a small 3 phase motor out in the field......o_O Then again, this one here would definetely create more...

Need Help with auto switching Reverse Polarity Circuit

555 timer should handle 2 to 3 minutes without too much accuracy and as above a double pole double throw relay to change over the 27v polarity.

    2 axis CNC

Linux cnc is good stuff, plenty of support etc. Online searches should bring up what you want.

    Strange transistor circuit

Could the circuit be using a split supply? Agree, would need to see more circuit.

    Hall effect part suggestions?

I use allegro A1120 EUA-T for ignition systems sensor for model engines. Open drain output, rail to rail switching. I use a 10K resistor from signal to positive rail and tap off to the ign (your circuit) from there. Important to use 0.01uF cap (small as you can get) right on the power supply...

What cable/wiring to use with electret condensor mic

Built a stethoscope style of engine noise detector years ago...had an extended metal rod connected to the pickup......not sure if it used magnetic or crystal style earpiece as a pickup. Perhaps the former, but didn't suffer any noise problems. Then again, it was the noise i was looking...

    Garage Door controller reverse function

Late model stuff generally senses current draw to control the motor.

What cable/wiring to use with electret condensor mic

I would think fully braided should be more efficient at keeping out noise rather than a standard "laid -up" shield. Really one of those applications you could try the latter if nothing else available but automotive apps have a lot of stray noise so the former probably recommended. Cost...

Help with finding a resistor to drop 220v to 110v

Most neon lamps are around 90V and require a resistor of some kind, much like an LED. For your value, see here.... http://www.giangrandi.ch/electronics/neon/simple.html 1/4w should be ok...... 0.0012 * 100 = 0.12w

    2 axis CNC

You could go Arduino and GRBL if you can handle some programming ....and a bit of study https://github.com/grbl/grbl/wiki Either originals or clones, (Arduino) up to you really.

    Small generator from motor

DC motors used as generators need to run rather fast to get any sort of usable power from them. Not much chop trying to "gear-up" as you'll find you won't get enough torque to start it moving let alone generate.
