    Buzz In Portable Cassette Player

You would not have inadvertantly tapped into the input with your so-called cosmetic mod in any way? Those voltages seem off a bit but would not cause hum , just 2 bob batteries I suspect. The "cosmetic mods" would be worth a look though.

    Buzz In Portable Cassette Player

Pic of what you have now would be helpful I would imagine. e.g. you mention 3 x AA but i only see 2 (unless one is tucked underneath somewhere) What happened to the cracked track? Looks like you made a new housing out of wood or similar. Certainly gives new meaning to the word "hack". Sounds an...

That's connector No. 7........the number 9 is a terminal on the timer... As you can see, easily to get confused. Hope you check switch is the culprit.

How many people can fix electronic devices?

Perhaps because they just can't be bothered. A bit like those who don't use correct spelling or punctuation. Mostly though, technology moves at such a rate these days and most demand the latest. In the 50's, technology doubled every 10 years or so but in the 70's, this became every 6 months...

Laptop LCD screen broken please help

Makes sense to me, given the cabling at that point gets a right work-out every time the lid is opened and closed. Would be the first place I would look.

    Dryer not spinning

Voltage measurements depend on where you are measuring ...should be from Line to neutral initially and from other points through the circuit to the neutral. Therein lies a problem that only experience or knowledge of exactly what the flow process is in the machine operation can overcome. This is...

Solenoid turn on and off voltages are early

No such thing as "turn on voltage" (see #2 above) Bit of Deja vu here I think.... Usually rated at so many "watts" indicating holding or pulling power

Solenoid turn on and off voltages are early

I imagine you are talking no load here. I don't really see anything wrong with the solenoids as they are on-off devices. Apply rated voltage they pull in, remove the voltage, they drop out. There are no magnets in the solenoid, the magnetic force is developed by the coil. Coils can burn out over...

    Solenoid controller

Solenoids are not meant to operate in this fashion, they are just on-off devices. Leave the de-activation too long will cook the coil eventually.

    LED lighting without power source

We use volt sticks or non-contact voltage detector in our work for quick reference. We left one sitting on the dash of the work truck noticed how the buzzer and the led would activate when we would go under the HV on the highway. Probably from at least 50 metres either side. Now this is 66KV or...

Have a good look around and make sure you haven't inadvertantly yanked another cable off somewhere. Seems very strange that it was working previously and is now completely dead.

Older electronic Sliding gate opener, looking for wiring diagram or advice

In many instances, due to the lack of service information , it is considered equipment to be just that as you describe (garbage) largely due to the fact it could cost an arm and a leg to reverse engineer. These days it is considered normal to junk equipment after most failures, sad but true.

Older electronic Sliding gate opener, looking for wiring diagram or advice

In defence of the lecky, in my experience (as a lecky) it usually means there is no information available on how it works or what goes where or how to make adjustments, no circuit drawings available, the fact that "it used to work once" is no help what-so-ever, and basic tests for power is about...

    Dryer not spinning

I still think you need to verify power into the L1 to begin with. Your feed via the lid switch and temp switch to the valves does return via the "fuse" although not sure what type of fuse it is (thermal or overcurrent) I believe the "check' switch would be the out of balance detector and it is...

    Dryer not spinning

So I take it that wire 9 came off connection adjacent to switches 6 and 7 and then shorted to the frame? Appears the only way to find where the supply has failed is to start where L1 comes in to the line switch and work your way through. You really need to check for power at this point but if...

    Dryer not spinning

The usual sequence of events is,(wash) first close the lid, then operate the timer (most pull out) ....water(hot or cold depending on selector) starts to run into the machine until it reaches the selected level....... then motor runs up to speed and centrifigal switch shuts off the start...
